Directors of the Greater Las Vegas Association
of REALTORS® held their monthly meeting on
September 25 with President Heidi Kasama chairing
and a quorum of Directors present.
FORMS Janet Carpenter was not at the meeting but
reported that committee members were disappointed
that the amendment and addendum forms were not
both approved.
CEO’S REPORT
Nelson Janes reported that a diversity grant had been
won from NAR to apply to the 2015 Leadership
Series, enabling the association to invite members
of industry partners as well. He reported on the
continuing relationship with LVGEA and on the
upcoming annual dinner where President Kasama
would represent the association
GREEN Janet Carpenter reported that the committee’s
recycling event is scheduled for October 18.
Shredding, a clothing drop off and recycling of
electronics were to be available.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Heidi Kasama reported on the second lunch meeting
with leaders of CALV, NAHREP, AREAA and WCR.
The NAREB president was unable to attend. She
referred to the Strategic Plan which will be ratified
in October. She directed that the GLVAR Advantage
booklet and committee sign up brochure be
circulated to all Members as soon as any changes for
2015 are finalized. She also directed that a master
calendar be established for 2015, including as many
industry partners’ meetings and events as possible,
and a master calendar of the deadlines for budget
development and approval. She also expressed
concern about HOA super priority liens.
MLS David Brownell reported that the Tech Fair had
been successful with participants and vendors alike
who all said they would sponsor next year.
SentriLock: A Preliminary report on sites and
procedures for the lock box exchange in February
was reviewed. Staff was directed to get detailed
information to the Membership as soon as possible.
DIRECTOR LI AISON REPORTS
COMMUNITY OUTREACH Julie Youngblood reported
that the bowling tournament was not as well attended
as the first one this year. The second annual golf
tournament was coming up on October 6.
EDUCATION Keith Lynam reported that the training
conducted for Monitors had resulted in substantial
improvements in their organization and introductions.
MARKET CONDITIONS David J. Tina reported that
Master planned communities will be the topic at their
next meeting.
POLITICAL AFFAIRS Tina Africk reported that Larry
Burns had been their speaker and that Government
Affairs Director Joe Locatelli’s written report had been
distributed at this meeting.
PROPERTY MANAGEMENT Kystal Sherry reported
that their speaker had not shown so an interesting
exchange of experiences was done by participants.
RRG Kathryn Bovard reported that there are
currently 273 Members with another 30 pending.
She invited Directors to their annual awards luncheon
on October 29.
YPN David J. Tina reported that a Speed Networking
event was scheduled.
DISCUSSION ITEMS
• The approved Bylaws changes going to the
Annual Meeting in October were reviewed.

SECONDED to participate in the St. Jude’s Ranch
Christmas Party along with the Community
Outreach Committee. The Christmas party will take
place in early December and will consist of games,
food and Christmas gifts for children living at the
ranch. YPN will allocate $500.00 from their budget
or whatever is left in their budget by the end of
November, and all other expenses will be covered
by sponsors. CARRIED
RATIONALE: It is in both the YPN and Community
Outreach Committees’ scopes to encourage and
provide opportunities to participate in projects that
will have a positive impact on the greater Las Vegas
community.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH – MOVED and
SECONDED to participate in the Opportunity Village
Santa Run, along with the Young Professionals
Committee on December 6, 2014. All individuals
running will pay their own registration fee, but will
run on behalf of GLVAR, YPN and the Community
Outreach Committee. CARRIED
RATIONALE: It is in both the YPN and Community
Outreach Committees’ scopes to encourage and
provide opportunities to participate in projects that
will have a positive impact on the greater Las Vegas
community.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH – MOVED and
SECONDED to approve an additional $1,000 to
sponsor a breakfast ceremony where money raised
in 2014 will be presented to GLVAR’s approved
charities. The event would be held on December
12 from 9:00 a.m. until Noon. Invitations will go
to Directors, Affiliates, and Community Outreach
Committee members. Approximately 100 people
will be invited. CARRIED

RATIONALE: To show and share our appreciation
to those Affiliates that help support our Association.
MEMBERSHIP – MOVED and SECONDED to
approve new Member Benefit Partners – All
Washed Up Window Cleaning, Debt Solutions
Service, Document Builders LLC, Mobile Fingerprint
Services, New Horizon Computer Learning Center.
CARRIED
RATIONALE: These Companies have met the
requirements of Policy 700-2.
MEMBERSHIP – MOVED and SECONDED to
deny/cancel Membership for the following offices
– POWERof2 Realty, Vegas Living Realty and
Management. CARRIED
RATIONALE: This is following Policy 700-1A – New
Office Fee/ Office RE-Instatements.
MLS – MOVED and SECONDED that the newly
revised MLS Listing Agreement is approved with
utilities clauses and formatting of signatures.
There was a lot of discussion on this matter and
the Committee felt the newly revised agreement
provides more protections and the additions of new
regulations.
It was MOVED and SECONDED by directors to
approve the revised agreement with the Deletion of
Section 33 concerning utilities. CARRIED
MLS - MOVED AND SECONDED that a Listing
Addendum Form be approved as drafted by GLVAR
Legal Counsel.
RATIONALE: To enhance the public image of
REALTOR® and Affiliate Members by noting the
contributions of GLVAR to our community.
RATIONALE: To allow Brokers and Clients the
opportunity to terminate the Listing Agreement
when it is desired by both parties.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH – MOVED and
SECONDED to bring back the Affiliate of the Quarter
