Board members, DPR staff and visitors introduced themselves. CHAIRPERSON TIME Agenda Review Mr. Burgess asked Board members if they had any changes or additions to the agenda. No additions or changes were identified. OLD BUSINESS Approval of Open Minutes – March 11, 2014 The board members reviewed the open minutes from the March 11, 2014, meeting. Motion was made and seconded to approve the March 11, 2014 open minutes. Motion carried. OLD BUSINESS Board Member Contact Information Update Mr. Gerton asked Board members if there were any updates to their contact information. No updates were identified. OLD BUSINESS Rules Report Associate General Counsel Daniel Kelber provided an update on the Revised Controlled Substances Rules and Pharmacy Rules. The proposed Controlled Substances Rules were published in the March 7, 2014 Illinois Register. The public comment period expired on April 21, 2014. Public comments are being reviewed for 2nd Notice. Proposed Pharmacy Rules will be published May 16, 2014. The public comment period will expire on June 30, 2014. 2 OLD BUSINESS FDA Meeting Compounding Pharmacy Oversight (DQSA) Mr. Kelber provided a brief report of the March 20 & 21, FDA interstate conference he and Dr. Amin attended in Silver Spring, MD, regarding Compounding Pharmacy Oversight in connection with the Federal Drug Quality and Security Act that was signed into Law in November 27, 2013. LEGISLATION UPDATE Garth Reynolds, IPhA Mr. Reynolds provided a legislation update. VISITORS’ COMMENTS Mr. Burgess opened the floor for visitors’ comments. Guest Douglas Higgins expressed concern about compounding for office use in Illinois in reference to proposed Pharmacy rules, and movements at the federal level.
