Question cards: getting to know you
Teaching notes
These question cards can be used in a variety of ways. The following activities could be
used in sequence or as stand-alone tasks.
Match the question
Give each student one question card and keep a copy of the questions for your
reference. At random, pick a question and give an answer to it in the target language.
The students listen and work out if they have the matching question, which they can
then read out. This models how to answer the questions and ensures that everyone
understands them.
Quiz quiz trade
Give each student one card and enough time for them to check the meaning of the
question on it if necessary. The whole class then stands up and each student finds
another person to question in turn. Once they have given their answers in the target
language, they swap cards and find another person to ask.
Interview a partner
Shuffle the cards and give each pair or small group of students one pack of questions,
face-down. Students take turns to take a card and ask and answer the questions.
