October, 2014 News: Happy 2 be Home as had some great PR in the last month. Berks-Mont paper’s online had some great photos from the Car Show held at NHUMC on Sunday, September 14th. A few even included our very own Charlotte helping with the trophies. On October 4th, John Yoast of 107.5 Alive talked candidly with Susan Wendell to share the story behind creation of Happy 2 be Home. In other news, we learned CNN featured a story describing how 3D printing has been helping a family very dear to us. The Mohn family (a family we assisted with the conversion of the family garage into a downstairs bedroom for their daughter, Hannah) was interviewed for the story describing how the research design engineers at du Pont Children’s Hospital used 3D printing to create the WREX (Wilmington Robotic EXoskeleton). This device has aided in the development of Hannah’s arm movements. Susan Wendell was nominated, and accepted the position of Vice President on the Happy 2 be Home board. Volunteers and potential board members are needed. If you are interested please contact Scott, or join us for our next Board meeting (November 12th, 7:30PM) to see what we are all about. Current Projects Update: The Fritz Family is looking at a driveway expansion and are in the process of obtaining bids. We are waiting for a third bid from the Schwartz family for Ethan’s bedroom/bathroom construction. We are still waiting for contractor bids for the Johnson family and St. Juste family. Fundraising: The 1st annual Jared Pishock Memorial Golf Tournament was a huge success. The event was sold out; weather beautiful. Bellewood Country Club did a fabulous job with food and the golf course. Everyone had a great time. Thank you to all who participated. $17,600 was raised for Happy 2 be Home. “Save the Date” for the following fundraisers: October 24, 2014 – 3rd Annual Concert benefiting H2BH (featuring: Clay Crosse and Kim Hill)
