Real-world problems, from loss of biodiversity to epidemics and violent conflicts, manifest globally
but strongly affect the lives of people in their local contexts. The Global Classroom curriculum
makes use of digital technologies and virtual environments to facilitate students’ engagement with
real-world problems in local contexts. More than 70 students and 15 instructors from Arizona State
University (USA) and Leuphana University Lüneburg (Germany) jointly developed this curriculum in
a 3 years educational project.
