Editor: Eiji Nishikubo しょうがっこう にほんご ハンティングデール 小学校 日本語ニュース WHAT IS UNDOUKAI? In Japan nearly every school shuts down once a year for an "Undo Kai" -- a kind of sports day or sports festival. The children are the main participants, but their parents and many people from the neighbourhood come to watch and enjoy a community experience. School is divided two teams, AKA ’RED’ and SHIRO ’WHITE’. They are the traditional colours. The origin of these colours may come from when Genji and Heike samurai warriors fought under the red and white flags. Please note that Hokkaido & Honshu children wear AKA ‘ Red’ while the Shikoku & Kyushu Children wear SHIRO ‘WHITE’.
