Obiettivi: Il corso di Inglese Scientifico si propone di fornire agli
studenti la capacità di analizzare, comprendere e tradurre in
italiano testi scientifici in lingua inglese. In particolare gli studenti
dovranno familiarizzare con il lessico inerente alla professione
relativa
al
loro
corso
di
studi.
Il programma prevede la conoscenza di terminologia medica di uso
comune e di terminologia medica pertinente all’apparato uditivo,
nonché la conoscenza di specifiche nozioni di grammatica e sintassi
necessarie alla scrittura scientifica. Inoltre, agli studenti, è richiesta
l’abilità ad analizzare i testi scientifici e la loro struttura (IMRAD)
che caratterizza i più prestigiosi articoli di ricerca. Durante le
lezioni sono previste esercitazioni di lettura e traduzione di testi
medico-scientifici.
Grammatica: articoli (a/an, the); plurale dei nomi: contabili e non
contabili; pronomi personali; pronomi personali complemento;
aggettivi e pronomi possessivi; genitivo sassone; posizione degli
aggettivi; aggettivi e avverbi; ordine delle parole. Partitivi:
some/any; much/many, a lot of; there is/there are; how
much?/how many? Pronomi interrogativi, preposizioni. Verbi: to
be/to have/have got/to do. Tempi verbali: presente/ present
continuous / futuro: (will/ -ing/ to be going to)/ present perfect/
passato/ present perfect continuous + duration form (how long?
since/ for)/ past perfect/ past continuous/ past perfect continuous.
Modal verbs: can/ could/ be able to/ may/ might/ have to/ must/
may have/ might have/ needn’t/ needn’t have. Condizionale
presente e passato: would/ should/ could/ would have/ should
have/ could have, “if” clauses. Passivo; comparativi e superlativi;
relative clauses; connettori; nomi composti.

Objectives: The Scientific English course aim is to provide students
with the ability to understand and translate English texts of
scientific argument. In particular, students should become familiar
with scientific terminology in English.
English Syllabus provides for the acquisition of medical
terminology related to the Auditory System as well as the
knowledge of English grammar and syntax necessary for scientific
writing. Furthermore, students are required to analyze the IMRAD
structure characterizing the most reputable research articles .
During the English course, exercises are planned to test students’
skills in reading and translating scientific papers.
