Dear Parish Family,
“Between hello and goodbye is I love you.” -Jarod Kintz
I think this perfectly sums up feelings we have about people who come into our lives for a time and then depart
for one reason or another.
On Wednesday March 18, Bishop David M. O’Connell, C.M. notified me of something both sad and wonderful; he
decided to appoint Fr. Fernando Lopez the Administrator of St. Agnes and O.L. of Perpetual Help Parish in
Atlantic Highlands. I received the news first with a great sense of happiness for Fr. Fernando. Becoming an
Administrator is the first step to becoming a pastor for the first time and it is a very exciting time in the life of a
priest. After my first reaction of joy for him, it set in that it meant he was leaving us! That is when I felt a tinge of
sadness but the reality is “Between hello and goodbye is I love you”, which our community can certainly attest to
in the ministry of Fr. Fernando.
Now of course, the custody battle begins over poor Dante - I am looking for a good canine lawyer if you know one,
LOL! I thought, ‘my gosh no one to greet me in the morning and evening with enthusiasm, no more white nose
smudges on my black pants, no more toys strewn around the house’. Life will suddenly be quiet at the
rectory. Both of them will be greatly missed but Fr. Fernando more.
He has been an excellent Parochial Vicar, brother priest and friend. I cannot even express my complete joy for
him at this moment in his ministry. The day after the Bishop notified both of us we were like school boys. We
took a ‘road trip’ to see his new assignment but clandestinely, since we were both sworn to secrecy.
Please join me in expressing our best prayerful good wishes to Fr. Fernando as he begins a new path in the priesthood. OL Perpetual Help and St. Agnes are getting a wonderful and warm new priest.
Peace and Good – Fr. Bambrick

Faith Formation
Calling all RCIA Old Timers! If you have gone through the RCIA process or Adult Confirmation Classes at
St. Al's or any other Catholic parish, we would like to invite you to a monthly gathering of "Keeping Current" which meets every 3rd Sunday of the month at 9:30 a.m. in the Parish Office. We'll share our faith,
talk about our experiences since initiation, and engage in continued education in the faith. Our next session will be
Sunday, April 19. There is no need to RSVP, but if you'd like to, or like more info, please contact Jen.
Faith Sharing Group - The Merton Faith Sharing group meets each Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish
Office. All are welcome. If you would you like to be a member of this faith sharing group please call
Sister Eileen at the Parish Office on ext. 206.
God is Calling You!!!!! God calls each of us into a deeper relationship each day. If you are not Catholic, or
if you are a Catholic who has not received all of your Sacraments, come check out the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). See if full participation in the Church is what God is calling you to. Most Tuesday nights, from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. in the Parish Office, we have informal sessions where you can come, ask
questions and find out if this is right for you. There is no commitment when you come to Inquiry, but if
you want to pursue initiation, we’ll tell you what steps need to be taken. Join us for Inquiry, check the parish website or call Jen for information. Our next meeting date will be announced.
Attention Catholics Who Are Not Confirmed… If you are an adult and have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation, this is the class for you. We meet most Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. (and once a month on the first Tuesday, at
7:00 p.m.). Our next meeting date will be announced. The class is conversational, adult learning with a little bit of
required reading. You will learn A LOT about the Bible, your faith and yourself. For more information please contact Jen in the Parish Office at 732-370-0500 ext. 205.
Breaking Open the Word...At Church! For years, now, Sr. Eileen and Jen have been offering reflection
questions on the Sunday readings for families to share at home. After the 10:30 a.m. Mass, Jen offers an
opportunity to Break Open the Word at Church. Anyone who would like to is welcome to join Jen in the
Cafeteria for a quick exegesis (explanation of the readings) and some questions for faith sharing. The
whole thing lasts approximately 30 minutes. We will provide questions for all age groups. You can sit with your
family, grab a group of friends, or meet new people to share with. For more information, contact Jen at the Parish
Office. No need to register for this--it will be pretty informal. Just come on by, and if you want to, bring a Bible!
Protecting God's Children - Making the Church a safe environment for all, particularly children and at-risk
adults, is a major priority of the administration and staff of Saint Aloysius Church. Please take a look at the
posters and "Safe Environment & Standards of Conduct Policy" that are posted on the bulletin board in the
Gathering Space of the Church. You may also see what we have in place by clicking the banner on our parish website, or typing in: www.saintaloysiusonline.org/protecting-children. If you have any questions or
would like to learn more about how to make our church, homes and community safer, please contact Jen at 732370-0500, ext. 205 or email [email protected]. Please note: The Diocese of Trenton reports any allegations of sexual abuse to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. Anyone with an allegation is also encouraged to
provide that information to local law enforcement authorities.
The contemporary band will be taking a break throughout the Lenten season. Other traditional music will be provided at Mass and we will return for the 12:30 p.m. Mass on Easter Sunday. New musicians and singers are encouraged to audition. Please contact Gina at
[email protected] to set up an audition.

the month in the Parish Office. Our next meeting dates will be announced. The morning group is studying Letter to the Hebrews and the evening group is studying Acts of the Apostles. Come for an informal exploration of God’s Word. Call Jen in the Parish Office, or just come on by!

March 29, 2015 - Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion
Breaking Open the Word at Home by Jen Schlameuss-Perry
Today begins Holy Week. It is the most solemn, most important week in the Christian
calendar. We begin today with a Gospel—the story of Jesus entering Jerusalem for the
last time before He will be arrested. Everybody is glad to see Him, and cheers for Him as
He arrives—we do this, too, as we wave our palms. Then, Mass begins very much like normal. We have the second set of readings, starting with the First Reading from the Prophet Isaiah. It’s a foreshadowing of Jesus; telling
the story of how He would tell people the truth, and it would inspire them, but that eventually, people would turn
on him. The Second Reading, from Philippians, talks about how Jesus never looked for praise for Himself, but always brought people’s attention back to the Father. It talks of His self-emptying love for us—how He gave everything He had so that we would understand God’s love for us and we could be saved from sin. The Gospel is the
story of Jesus’ arrest, trial and crucifixion. The long version begins with the story of a woman who came to Jesus
while He was at supper, and anointed His head with expensive oil. She was showing Jesus respect and reverence,
and Jesus said that she (although she didn’t know it) was preparing His body for burial. He said that this simple
act of kindness toward Him was so important, that whenever the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection was told,
her story should be told with it.
Kids:
What was different about today’s Mass? What do the palms that you took home with you mean? What
does your family do with them? How did listening to the story of Jesus being arrested and killed make you
feel? Ask your parents to answer these questions, too.
Teens: The Second Reading and the Gospel are stories about self-emptying love. What do you think it means to
love this way? Can you think of some examples of people in your life who love this way? What are some
of their attributes? Remember—love is like candle light—when it is shared, it isn’t diminished, but instead, grows. Consider this when you are thinking about what self-emptying love means.
Adults: We know the story of the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus very, very well. We hear it twice this week, and
this happens every year! Why do you think the story of the woman who anointed Jesus is included in the
beginning? Why do you think Jesus thought it was important enough to be included in the Passion?

respuesta a todas nuestras oraciones.
