2015 Catechetical Sunday
Diocese of Raleigh
A Celebration of Lay Ministry
Join Bishop Burbidge and lay
ministers from throughout the Diocese of Raleigh for Mass, conversation and lunch in celebration of our response to the Baptismal call to serve as lay ministers in our parishes and communities on Saturday August 29, St. Mary Mother of the Church,
Garner. 10 AM Liturgy, 11 AM Conversation
with Bishop Michael F. Burbidge, followed by
lunch. There is no charge for this event, but registration is required by August 21. Registration
forms are located in the church narthex.
This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on
September 20, 2015, and will
focus on the theme
"Safeguarding the Dignity of
Every Human Person." Those whom the community has designated to serve as catechists will be
called forth to be commissioned for their ministry.
Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to
reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue
of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a
witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an
opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this
mission as a community of faith.
If you are suffering from an
abortion, experience the love of
Jesus Christ at a Project Rachel weekend retreat November 6-8. The weekend retreat,
for both women and men, will
combine discussions, spiritual exercises, the sacrament of reconciliation, a Memorial Service and
a Mass of the Resurrection. Participation is
strictly confidential and offers a beautiful opportunity to experience God’s love, forgiveness and
compassion. For more information or to register
for the retreat, contact Project Rachel at [email protected] or call (919) 852-1021.
The cost is $125 for lodging, meals and all retreat
materials. If you have a financial burden, some
assistance is available. Registration deadline is
October 9, 2015.
The Office of Human Life and Dignity and the
Office of Catholic Formation and Evangelization
are collaborating to bring you this extensive page
of resources. We are all catechists- teachers, parents, grandparents- really all of the lay faithful.
The diocese has created a webpage which we
hope will be useful at in your classrooms, in your
parish and in your homes in promotion the theme
of Safeguarding the Dignity of Every Human Person. Go to this website to learn more : http://
dioceseofraleigh.org/content/catechetical-sunday2015
In the second reading today St.
Paul talks about the special
kind of love between a husband and a wife. Through the
sacrament of Matrimony we
are called to live in love as
Christ loved us. Does our marriage relationship reflect the
love of Christ for all to see? The next Worldwide
Marriage Encounter weekends are Nov 6-8 in
Atlantic Beach, and Feb 5-7 in Asheville. Early
sign up is highly recommended. For more information visit our website at: http://
NCMarriageDiscovery.org or contact us at [email protected] or 704-3152144.
