A MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Holy Apostles Parish Family,
This weekend we want to congratulate all of
our First Communicants. We have 128 boys
and girls receiving their First Communion
this year. Our hope is that they will hunger
to come back for many more. I hope all the
families have a wonderful day together.
Then this Wednesday evening, Bishop
Malloy will be here to give the Sacrament of
Confirmation to 90 young people making
their commitment to our faith as adults.
We ask that the Holy Spirit immerse you in
Jesus’ love and that you always feel His
presence in your hearts.
Next Saturday, we’ll be celebrating all of
our volunteers at a fun dinner run by our
outstanding Gratitude and Hope Committee.
This is always a great time so if you’ve
volunteered in any ministry, please come!
On Sunday, we will bless our motorcycles
for a safe year of riding and enjoy the
Knights of Columbus’ Best Pancake Breakfast Ever.
I look forward to sharing with you all that
we learn this week about engaging young
people in our Church. I know a key is that
we all adopt an demeanor of welcoming,
learning, loving, sharing and compassion.
Also we are grateful that Father Sherry
came home for John Jelinek’s dad’s funeral
yesterday and stayed to celebrate 8 AM
Mass. We extend our condolences to
John’s family after his father, Richard, died
suddenly of a heart attack in his sleep.
May he rest in peace.
Have a Blessed Week!
Father Paul

We Share Our Blessings
This week, our Parish Tithe will be given to Habitat for
Humanity.
Your Giving Helps Meet Basic Needs
Your generosity to St. Vincent de Paul Society helps
members of our community meet some of their very
basic needs. Recently, several
single working mothers asked for
help with food and gasoline in order to get through the month.
Vincentians always bring food on
their visits to the needy; these
basic staples are deeply appreciated by those whose
budgets are stretched thin, ensuring that food is on the
table. Your assistance helps these individuals maintain
their dignity, continuing to work and feed their families.
Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he
shares his bread with the poor. Proverbs 22:9
Volunteer Opportunities in Liturgy
Our liturgical ministries are in need of some dependable and joyful individuals (or couples) to commit to the
Liturgy Ministry. Please pray and discern if you may be
the people we are searching! Full training and support
will be provided.
Altar Server Coordinator trains and supports our young
people in this important ministry. This person should relate well to children and parents alike, and be a patient
teacher and mentor. Responsibilities include organizing
training for new servers, refreshers for experienced servers, and encouraging new servers to join this ministry.
Eucharist Minister Scheduler creates the Eucharistic
Minister Roster every two months. The right person should
be comfortable with computers (MS Excel or similar software) and have good communication and people managing skills. Contact Feargal King at 815-385-5673 or
[email protected] to volunteer.

Community Kitchen—Sharing God’s Love
Save the Week for Bible Camp
We are feeding the hungry, at no cost, in the name of
Christ, every Monday at 6 PM in the Fr. Sherry Parish
Center. Doors open 5:45 PM. Please contact Mayra Rivas
for information, to volunteer, or to donate food or supplies,
at 815-996-0076 or mrivas8520@ comcast.net. This
week we served 86 guests.
The Community Kitchen has fed thousands of meals to
its guests over the years. The food is
usually plentiful enough to offer our
guests "seconds" and to offer the remainder to take home. We try to plan
well so we cook enough food, and
nothing gets wasted. And several
extra gifts have been added besides
just a good meal. "Give away tables"
make it possible for guests to take home donated
canned goods and other non-perishable food items, as
well as clothing, produce, and other donated items.
Saint Vincent de Paul Society representatives at the
Monday night meals help to provide or locate aid for
guests with emergency needs of all sorts. Our donors
and volunteers generate a spirit of community and
make it all possible, Thank you!
Vacation Bible Camp will be held the week of June 22
through 26 this year. Be sure to set aside this week
now so you don’t miss the fun!

Come, Holy Spirit!
Fill my heart with your gifts.
Let my love be true and
my charity be generous.
Help me in all my needs,
and grant me knowledge
to do what is right.
Advise me in my doubts,
strengthen me in my weakness,
protect me when I am tempted
and console me when I am
afraid.
Graciously hear me, O Holy
Spirit,
and pour Your light into my
heart, mind and soul.
Help me to live a holy life
and grow in goodness and
grace. Amen.
Holy Spirit enter in!
