Fr. Bob’s Briefs
Recently I saw something on an app store that made me stop, look, and chuckle. It was an
app called Monster Alert. I guess it’s an app designed specifically for children and young
people who are scared of monsters, and this app will alert anyone if any monsters are
present. Children are often scared of monsters. However, fear and anxiety is not limited to
monsters or childhood. No, as new grow older, it seems our fears, anxieties, and troubles
grow with us as well. As an
adult, fear of monsters seems
tame and small. We would
gladly trade our adult troubles
and anxieties for childhood
fears of monsters once again. Our life is never
free of fear, anxiety, or troubles.
In today’s gospel, we hear how the Risen
Lord appears to his disciples. This is the last
appearance of the Risen Christ in the Gospel of
Luke. As the Risen Lord stood among them, He
knows they are afraid. “Why are you troubled?
Why do questionings rise in your hearts?” The
Risen Lord could see they were afraid on the
outside, but more importantly, the Risen Lord
was able to know what was going on in the
inside. The Risen Christ could see and know the
fears, anxiety, and troubles that were present in
their hearts.
In this Resurrection appearance, the
Risen Lord was aware of the disciples’ fears and
troubles, and He wished to take these fears,
anxieties, and troubles away. Fear and anxiety
do not come from God. So, in this final
Resurrection appearance in Luke, Jesus wishes to
drive away fear, anxiety, and trouble from their
hearts. Writing on this gospel, St. Bede teaches,
“such thoughts were false and dangerous. Just as
a good farmer should say, ‘what I have planted
there, I shall find,’ so too the faith that descends
into hearts, because it is from God. But those
thoughts [fear, anxiety, trouble] did not descend from above, but ascended from below into the heart, like
worthless plants.”
What are the fears in your life? Fears and troubles aren’t confined just to childhood monsters. What is
giving you anxiety and troubling your heart right now? We all have fears. Whatever our fears, anxiety, and
troubles, they do not come from God above, but from the evil one below. Just as the Risen Lord appeared to
His disciples to take away their fears, anxiety, and troubled hearts, so too, the Risen Jesus comes to us, to take
away our fear, anxiety, and whatever troubles our hearts with His grace, if we ask for His grace and help.
Congratulations to our young people and adults who received the Sacrament of Confirmation from
Bishop Andrew Wypych on Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Sixty eight young people and two adults received the
gift of the Holy Spirit this week! May the Holy Spirit always fill you with His gifts, fruits, and grace! Thank
you to all the catechists and staff who helped to form and prepare our confirmandi. April is Child Abuse
Prevention Month. We pray for those who have been affected by child abuse and pray for the prevention of
child abuse. We pray that God may bless May all children, keep them safe, and help them to grow to
Christian maturity by the power Holy Spirit. May our Blessed Mother Mary, Undoer of Knots, help us with
her maternal care and St. Joseph pray for us.
Vivat Jesus! Live Jesus!

CATHOLIC CHARITIES
MOTHER’S DAY COLLECTION
MAY 10, 2015
Eva is doing all she can to raise her grandchild alone
on a limited income. She called Catholic Charities when
she couldn’t afford to fix her plumbing. We made the
home repair, and invited her to our caregiver support
group. She was one of the 398,078 seniors we helped
last year.
Please give to Catholic Charities on Mother’s Day to
help seniors live in comfort. Learn more
atwww.catholiccharities.net.
“People have a dignity that is priceless and worth far
more than things.” - Pope Francis
y no tienen precio”. – Papa Francisco
Zadzwoniła do Katolickiej
Confirmation – There were 70 young people confirmed on
Tuesday evening in what was a very beautiful and prayerful
ceremony. I always find the music beautiful, with the mixture
of choir’s from the different ministries of our Parish coming
together to pray. Thank you to the choir members and your
respected directors.
School Visit - As I mentioned this year, the Archdiocese of
Chicago is seeking accreditation for the school system through
the Advanced Ed Group, (this replaced North Central). We were
one of the forty schools visited this year.
We will not be receiving a written school report about the visit
as there focus is on the Archdiocesan School System and
spending only three hours would be unfair to come to or report
on any conclusions. Verbally they reported that they truly
enjoyed their visit and felt a very welcoming and homey
atmosphere as they observed families bringing their children to
school. Our children were polite and well behaved and the
classroom observations indicated children were engaged in the
learning activities and enjoy learning.
Registration 2015 – 2016 – Our open registration continues. If
you are interested in a Catholic Education for your children,
please contact me at the school office, I would welcome the
opportunity to discuss our school program. Through the
Archdiocese and our School Endowment there are a number of
tuition assistance programs for families, which can make out
tuition affordable. If you have thought about sending your
children to a Catholic School but felt you could not afford it,
please make it a point to stop by the school office or call for an
appointment. I can show you how affordable our tuition can be.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support. Have a great
week!
God Bless.

¡ Vivat Jesus! ¡Viva Jesús!

Niedawno w internetowym sklepie z aplikacjami zauważyłem coś, co mnie rozbawiło.
Aplikacja o nazwie „Monster Alert” („Ostrzeżenie przed potworami”).
przeciwnie – nasze lęki i niepokoje rosną razem z nami. Osobie dorosłej lęk przed
potworami wydaje się czymś
trywialnym i śmiesznym. Z
radością zamienilibyśmy nasze
obecne zmartwienia na dziecinny lęk o
potworach.
"Czemu jesteście zmieszani i
dlaczego wątpliwości budzą się w waszych
sercach?”
uczniami.
Zmartwychwstały był tego świadom
pragnął to ukoić. Lęk i niepokój nie pochodzi
przecież od Boga. Ukazując się w Ewangelii św.
Łukasza po raz ostatni, Chrystus chce przegnać z
serc niepokoje i lęki. W swoim komentarzu do
Dobry rolnik
zawsze mówi: „Znajdę tu to, co zasadziłem”. Tak
samo wiara spływa do naszych serc z góry,
Wystarczy, że poprosimy Go o pomoc.
Andrew Wypycha Sakrament Bierzmowania. W tym tygodniu, Dar Ducha Świętego otrzymało w sumie 68
nastolatków oraz dwoje dorosłych! Niechaj Duch Święty napełni Was wszystkich swoimi darami i łaskami.
maltretowane i wykorzystywane. Niech Bóg błogosławi wszystkie dzieci, chroni je i prowadzi do
chrześcijańskiej dojrzałości mocą Ducha Świętego. Święta Maryjo Rozwiązująca Węzły, miej nas zawsze w
Swojej opiece. Święty Józefie, módl się za nami.
Vivat Jesus! Chwała Jezusowi!
