MLK, Jr.
Celebration
Developing a World Perspective:
Building Global Communities
A Message from the Chancellor
As our nation comes together in January to honor the life and to celebrate the lasting
achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., our campus will once again build on his actions,
words and lessons to improve our own community. The role of a great public land-grant
university is to translate knowledge and ideas into actions that touch lives and make the
world a better place to live, work and learn.
And this year we have an even more impressive array of opportunities to honor Dr.
King’s legacy. From lectures to scholarship celebrations to movies to films to a culminating
community celebration – there is something for every single one of us this year. I hope you
join us for one or more of these great events as our campus and our local community carry
on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Sincerely,
Phyllis M. Wise
