tween 4pm‐7pm. Please have your front porch light on if you will be handing out candy. Daylight Savings Daylight savings me ends on November 2nd. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour and please change the ba eries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Leaf Pick Up If you live East of Community Park, leaves will be picked up on Thursdays. If you live West of Com‐
munity Park, leaves will be picked up on Mon‐
days. Please do not put leaves in the gu er un l a er the weekend. Do not put leaves on the catch basin grates. Do not mix grass clippings with your leaves. They will not be picked up if they are mixed! Branches‐Please place branches at the curb with the cut ends towards the street. Branches will be picked up on Mondays un l November 24th. Belgium Fire Department Blood Drive and Open House Saturday, October 4th from 9am‐2pm At the Belgium Fire House – 195 Commerce St. Make an appointment at www.bcw.edu/belgiumfire or call 877‐232‐4376 Appointments encouraged. Hydrant flushing will take place from October 6th through Oc‐
tober 31 from 8am‐2:30pm. If you water is discolored from this process, please run your tap. The water is safe to use. We urge you to wash clothes at night during this period, if at all possible. Hydrant flushing will take place from the East to the West side of the Village. PREVENT A FIRE AND GET A FREE PIZZA!! The Safe Kids Coali on, Belgium Fire Department and Bic’s Place are “Delivering Fire Preven on” on October 23rd from 4:30pm‐7:30pm. A er placing a pizza order from Bic’s Place, 262‐285‐3555, a family who has children under the age of 14 is randomly select‐
ed by Bic’s Place to have their pizza delivered by a fire truck. Once the fire truck arrives at your house all of the smoke de‐
tectors will be checked. If all of the smoke detectors work, the pizza is free and you will receive a smoke detector and ba er‐
ies. If the smoke detectors don’t work you will have to pay for the pizza and you will receive a smoke detector and ba eries. All smoke detectors and ba eries are compliments of the Safe Kids Coali on of Southeast Wisconsin. Bic’s Place Phone Number is 262‐285‐3555. TAX REMINDER! NEW PAYMENT LOCATION We will be collec ng 2014 property taxes at the new Belgium Village Hall located across from the Luxembourg American Cultural Center, Mondays through Fridays 8:00am – 5:00pm during this upcoming property tax season. If mailing in your tax payment, please make your check payable to: Village of Belgium 104 Peter Thein Ave Belgium, WI 53004 If you would like a paid receipt mailed back to you, you must enclose a self‐addressed, stamped envelope with your check(s). Checks should be made for the exact amount of taxes due. If there is an overpayment due to a higher escrow check, a refund will be made by check within 15 business days to the property owner(s) listed on the tax bill. Port Washington State Bank in Belgium will also be collec ng tax payments inside the bank lobby only. In the case of overpayments made at the bank, a refund will be given immediately. Bring or enclose your tax payment stub regardless of where and how you pay to avoid an erroneous applica on of payment! NOTICE TO RESIDENTS WITH DELINQUENT UTILITY & INVOICE ACCOUNTS On October 15th, 2014 no ces will be mailed to resi‐
dents with delinquent u lity account and/or invoice account balances. The balances included in the no c‐
es MUST be paid in full by 5:00pm on November 1st, 2014 to avoid the 10% penalty allowed per Wisconsin Statute §66.0809(3). Balances which remain out‐
standing as of 5:00pm on November 15th, 2014 will become a lien on the property tax bill. Residen al Tenant U lity Customers: Per Wisconsin ACT 274, commencing January 2015, the Village and/
or your landlord are now able to place a lien on your personal assets for the amount of the delinquent u li‐
ty account balance le unpaid by October 15th annu‐
ally. It is crucial you maintain current accounts to avoid this process against your personal assets. ELECTION NEWS YOU CAN USE On Friday, September 12, 2014 the Seventh Circuit court of Appeals in Chicago reinstated the voter photo ID requirement for the General Elec on on November 4th, 2014. Voters must again provide a valid document establishing their proof of iden fica on per Wisconsin State Statues in order to receive a ballot. Valid forms of iden fica on must include the voter’s name and photo‐
graph. The name must reasonably conform to the name listed in the poll book and the photograph must reasonably match the voter. The address done not have to match the poll book for voter iden fica on, only for registra on purposes. The following are the most common acceptable forms of ID and they can be unexpired or expired no earlier that the most recent general elec‐

Absentee ballots are available now by mail. If the request for an absentee ballot is made by mail it must be in the office of the municipal clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Thursday preceding an elec on. This is the last day a clerk can mail an Absentee Ballot to an elector. Requests for absentee ballots in the Clerk’s office can be made beginning October 22 un l 5pm on the Friday preceding the elec on. POSITIONS UP FOR ELECTION IN APRIL 2015 Three (3) Village Trustee seats of a two (2) year term (incumbents John Hise, Jason Acevedo, and Vickie Boehnlein) One (1) Village President Seat of a two (2) year term (incumbent Richard Howells) Nomina on papers for Village Trustee and Village President are available in the Clerk’s office beginning Monday, Decem‐
ber 1, 2014 and are due back in the Clerk’s office no later than 5:00 pm Tuesday, January 6, 2015. The Spring Primary (if needed) will be Tuesday, February 17, 2015 and the Spring elec on will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015. Winter Parking hours start on November 15th and goes through March 31st. No parking will be allowed on any of the Village streets from 3am‐7am. If you are parked on the street during these hours, you may receive a cita on. Recycling Center Hours Monday 7am‐3:30pm Tuesday 7am‐3:30pm Wednesday 7am‐5pm Thursday 7am‐3:30pm Friday 7am‐12(Noon) Saturday 9am‐3pm A er November 29th, Saturdays hours are 10am‐2pm. Snow is to be removed from the sidewalks within 24 hours a er a snowfall. If you go away for winter please have ar‐
rangements made to have your sidewalk shoveled. If you fail to shovel your sidewalk you could receive a cita on. When shoveling out mailboxes, be sure to shovel a car‐length pathway in front of your mailbox to guarantee mail delivery. Be sure to shovel out fire hydrants in your neighborhood. Every second counts in a fire emergency. St. Mark 26th Annual Chicken Booyah will be held on Sunday, October 26th from 11:30 am‐3:00 pm at St. Mark, 200 Park Street, Belgium. Chicken Booyah is a de‐
