Follow your crew leader’s instructions

Only take breaks with the crew or when approved by the crew leader

Only talk to people outside your crew when you have your STS crew
leader’s approval
Treat your fellow crew members and your crew leader with respect;
avoid behaviors that are intimidating, harassing or unwelcome
Scheduling
All Sentencing to Service (STS) appointments must be scheduled at
least 48 hours before the day you are requesting to be on STS crew,
and less than one month in advance.
All STS crew appointments must be scheduled in English.
Do not bring weapons or firearms to crew
You will need the following information to schedule:
• Your full name
• Date of birth
• Contact phone number
• Case number (your referral form will include this)
• Requested date and pick up location
Type of work

Report any injuries to your STS crew leader immediately
Wear your seatbelt while you are in the STS van
Do not bring or use drugs or alcohol while on crew
Once you’ve gathered the information above you can schedule online
at www.hennepin.us/sts.
While you’re on crew you could be doing a variety of activities
including:

Painting over or removing graffiti
Planting trees
Removing invasive plants from public properties
Removing debris from ponds, creeks or wetlands
S hoveling snow from bus stops, fire hydrants and
pedestrian bridges
• Mowing lawns
• Trimming plants on park and nature trails
Schedule over the phone
Once you’ve gathered the information above you can schedule over
the phone by calling 612-596-9220 and then pressing 1 to speak to
a STS staff member. STS staff are available Monday through Friday,
7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cancel an appointment
Call 612-596-9220 at least 24 hours before your scheduled STS
crew date.

What to wear
STS crews typically work outside, so it is important to wear appropriate
clothing. To keep you safe while on STS crews you should wear
the following:
• Long pants
• Shirt with sleeves
• Socks
• Closed toe work boots or shoes
What not to wear
Pick up sites
If you do not have transportation, several bus routes run either directly
to or very near our pick-up sites. For more information, visit
www.metrotransit.org or call 612-373-3333.
Once you arrive at the pickup site you will need to report to the STS
van. Vans arrive at the pick-up sites 10 minutes prior to pick-up times
listed below and depart promptly at five minutes past the hour. STS
vans have the Hennepin County and STS program logos displayed on
their sides.

Pick up sites continued
Anyone who arrives wearing sandals, leggings, shorts, capris,
sleeveless or revealing tops will be sent home.
Sentencing to Service does not do work on most holidays. If you are
unsure what days we don’t work, please call us at 612-596-9220.

Drugs, alcohol, weaponry and firearms are not allowed on STS crews.
In addition, crew members should avoid bringing headphones, tablets,
purses, expensive electronics and jewelry.

T he van will be parked in the
northwest corner of the parking lot.

Everyone on STS crew is required to bring the following items
every time:
• Photo ID
• Bagged lunch
• Something to drink (ex, bottled water or sports drink)
