ANNOUNCEMENT TO MEMBERS
On June 9, ASQ will be distributing via Qualtrics® a
survey to all of its members. The feedback from
this survey will be used to help the Raleigh
Leadership Council in the Raleigh Section identify
unit-specific strengths and improvement
opportunities. The feedback will also provide the
Board of Directors and other Society leaders with a
better understanding of member needs and
priorities. Those members who have not provided
ASQ email addresses will not get the survey. The
median time to complete the survey on the pilots
we have run was 15 minutes. The survey will close
on June 29.

Six Sigma Special Interest Group
We feel we have had another successful year with our Six Sigma Special Interest Group (Six
Sigma SIG). Six speakers presented a varied array of topics to our group and there were lots
of discussions and learning that took place in the process. Looking forward we would like to
put some dates out there for everyone to save for next year. Please save the following
dates for our 2014/15 Six Sigma SIG.
9/30/2014, 10/28/2014, 11/25/2014, 1/27/2015, 2/24/2015, and 3/31/2015.
It also looks like all of these meetings will occur at Gregory Poole Equipment Company
located at 4807 Beryl Road in Raleigh.
If you or one of your coworkers would like to present to our group next year we would really
appreciate your support. If you had a successful project in the past or are currently working
on an interesting problem we would love to hear your story. Please drop Mark Morton or
Fred Rich a line and we will work on getting you scheduled.
We hope each of you have a good summer and hope to see you at our first meeting on
September 30.
We are looking for speakers for October, November, January 2015, February 2015, March
2015. Please contact Mark Morton or Fred Rich if interested.

Quality Progress Takes Notice of NC State’s Student Section of ASQ
In the April issue of Quality Progress, the newly approved Student Section of ASQ at North
Carolina State University was highlighted. The notice was from the “Shortruns” article on page
14.
Student sections of ASQ promote students to develop a network of quality professionals to help
them get a head start in their careers. It also enables the students to develop leadership skills
by working with the local section members. ASQ Raleigh Section 1113 is proud to sponsor the
NC State Student Section. The approval of the student section further demonstrates that the
Raleigh area is committed to Quality.
FYI: Less than two years ago there were only approximately 25 student sections in ASQ across
the nation. California and Texas had the most at 6 and 4 respectively.
