We know how Mrs. Schorr puts her heart and soul into Beth Tfiloh, and who could say “no” to her?” “We are grateful for all that Beth Tfiloh has done for our family, and we appreciate how fortunate we have been to be able to send our children here,” expresses Jay. “We would like to help give other children the same opportunity.” “One of the most significant strengths of Beth Tfiloh School is its diversity of Jewish students,” says Jay. “Having a student body comprised of Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Jews enabled our children to get a more encompassing perspective.” It’s that cohesive community that makes BT so special, and is, according to the Chasons, one of BT’s greatest strengths. “Beth Tfiloh – both the School and the Congregation – is very welcoming, and offers opportunities for everyone to get involved.” And that community is especially good at taking care of its members. “Yad b’Yad is a great example of this!” Natalie comments. The Chason children are very proud of their parents for taking on this vital leadership role. Says Eric, “I know my parents will do an excellent job and I am happy for both of them, as they have the opportunity to give back to a school that means so much to our family.” Aly conveys the importance of this role. “There are so many people who need financial assistance, and they should be able to receive it. It’s very valuable for students to get a Jewish education, [which makes] this event very important,” said Aly. Natalie and Jay agree with their daughter completely. It’s not just BT’s Scholarship Fund on the line here… it’s Jewish continuity itself that is at stake. “Our children are our future – we understand the importance of providing a Jewish day school education to as many children as possible to help perpetuate the Jewish religion.” MAY 2014 A IYAR 5774 We gratefully acknowledge the following contributions to our Congregation & School In Memory of: RAY NACHLAS BECKER SCHOLARSHIP FUND In Honor of: Jacqueline Becker, on receiving her doctorate in physical therapy, by Walter Becker and Family. On Wednesday, May 7th, 2014 you can help feed Israel’s needy. And all you have to do is EAT! On Wednesday, May 7th, 2014 restaurants across the United States and Canada will join together in donating 10% of their gross revenue to American Friends of Meir Panim (AFMP). AFMP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting programs in Israel that provide daily hot, nourishing meals and social services to children and adults across Israel and from all backgrounds including Holocaust survivors, victims of terror and new immigrants. This innovative project is now in its tenth year! Initiated by students of Yeshivat Rambam of Baltimore, it is now spearheaded by students of Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School. Students across North America are collaborating in this effort. Through their dedication the program has grown from a local initiative to an international success. More than 100 kosher restaurants participated last year. With your help, this year will be the best yet!
