Member Rewards Program
The South Barrington Club knows that our current
members are one of the best resources for getting
new members. We would like to thank Steve Deligianis and Ali Laumann for sharing their club experience with friends, family members and neighbors. In
September, if you refer a new member you will
receive a $30 gift certificate and 2 free guest passes
(a total value of $50).
Permanent Lockers Available
A limited number of permanent lockers, located in
the women’s locker rooms, are available for rent. The
annual fee is $312. If you are interested n one of these
lockers, Please see Janet.
South Barrington Club Gift Cards are now available for
purchase at the front desk. The minimum value of the
cards start at $25.

Pool News
Congratulations to Sheena Leonard who had a
baby boy, Benett Allen on Sunday, August
24th. Benett is 7 pounds 11 ounces and 22
inches long. Both baby and mother are doing
fine.

The outdoor pool will be closed at the end of the day
Labor Day (September 1).

Swim Lessons are starting the week of September 8th,
classes are filling up so register today to
reserve your child’s spot.

With Swim lessons starting the week of September 8th,
don’t forget to pick up a pool schedule to
ensure there are open lanes for lap swim, if you want
a lap lane.

NEW PROGAM– Early Dismissal Energy is a new program
offered to Rose school children. On Wednesdays, South
Barrington Park District is providing transportation to the
park district for children that attend Rose School and
who are registered for park district programs. Please
refer to page 21 in the Park District brochure for specifics.

Attention swim team members– stay in shape and be
ready for next summer by taking advantage of our swim
team clinics throughout the year.

Tennis News
Indoor Tennis Season
Indoor tennis season begins September 2. All
permanent court time play groups and leagues
will begin then.
In-House Leagues– There are openings in our
Tuesday Permanent Partner Ladies Doubles InHouse League that starts play on 9/2 and runs
through 12/16. Play is from 1:30-3pm each week.

USTA Men’s and Mixed league update:
First, Congrats to SBC Men’s 4.0 team for advancing to the district playoffs for the first time in many
years. Players for the season included: Brian
Mohr, Jae Chung, Brandt Lieske, Jim Klemenz,
Jed Abernethy and Craig Whitehead.
Congrats are also in order to the 8.5 mixed doubles team for advancing to playoffs which is
scheduled to take place on the weekend of September 7th. Players for the season
included: Tanya Haber, Naree Paik, Brian Mohr,
Sanjiv Pillai, Katy Apmann, Kyle and Kelly Tomaska, Julie Wilson, Greg Barclay and Jed Abernethy.
USTA Teams are now forming for the fall (current
USTA membership required to play):
 Men’s 3.5 team (format is 2 singles, 3 doubles)
 Men’s 4.0 team (format is 2 singles , 3 doubles)
 Mixed 7.0 (or 7.5), and Mixed 8.0 (or 8.5)

Fall's Group Exercise classes will be starting up this month. Check our monthly
schedule and the Fall brochure for some new, great classes! SPF classes will
now be offered on Thursday evenings and Monday mornings starting midSeptember. Look for more TRX classes also to be added to the fall line-up!

working out now to bank a few pounds so that you can enjoy yourself once
the holidays get here. Consult with one of our Certified Trainers on the best
way to maximize your time to get the best results!

The Morton Arboretum
An Adult Excursion
Tuesday, September 30 9:30am-3:00pm
Fall at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle will
bring “delights to the senses”. There are
extraordinary sights, sounds and textures
throughout the 1,700 acre park that are
waiting to be explored. We’ll start with an
hour long narrated tram ride where we’ll
learn much about plant types and species
of trees from around the world. Special
landscaped areas include the Fragrance
Garden, Ground Cover Garden, Hedge
Garden and the Schullenberg Restored
Prairie. The Morton Arboretum was recently listed as one of the A1A Illinois 150 Great
Places in Illinois. Fee includes admission
and tram ride. Lunch in one of their 2 restaurants is on your own.

Please watch the gym schedules going into the fall season as the weather changes and fall programs begin.
Basketball clinics will begin in October in preparation for our leagues beginning in
December. Registration for both clinics and the league are available online.
Shelter rentals for family picnics and parties in September are a great way to end
the season. The rental contract can be downloaded from the website under
“Rentals”.
The Sports department is currently looking for basketball referees for our 1st/2nd
grade basketball league beginning January– March.

Adult Badminton and Pickleball
Come join in the fun and get exercise at the
same time. All equipment is provided and it is
free to members, but you need to register for
the class.

Orientation To Yoga
Saturday, October 11 10:00am-11:30am
Have you ever wondered “why is yoga so popular and how come so many people are doing
it”? If so, this is a great opportunity for you to
see what it’s all about. This will be an orientation to yoga, led by Kathy Czach, ERTY500-she is
also an instructor with a great following in our
area. This will be a class of traditional yoga focused on increasing your energy, flexibility, and
muscle strength. Come give it a try! Kathy
Czach will be available for consultation at the
end of class.
Macy’s on State Street
Friday, October 17 9:00am-4:00pm
This will be a great day featuring the landmark
store, Macy’s on State Street. Originally Marshall Fields, Macy’s offers an experience like no
other. We’ll have a 45 minute guided history
tour of the store, including the breathtaking Tiffany vaulted ceiling, the graceful Burnham
Fountain, the world renowned Walnut Room
restaurant, and a taste of the famous Frango
Mint Chocolates. We’ll have lunch in the Walnut Room and , of course, time for shopping.
Each guest will receive a Macy’s visitor Savings
Pass. Fee includes van transportation, parking
and tour, lunch as a group with separate
checks.
