Enclosed is your 2014 Maintenance Fee Payment Invoice. Please complete the enclosed form and return it with
your annual dues of $475 for Family Members and $255 for Individual Members (Singles) so that we may update
our database. The maintenance fee is due by May 1, 2014. We are happy to offer payment plans for any member
who would like to pay their maintenance fee in installments. Please contact the treasurer, Robin Leinbach,
[email protected] if interested. If your payment is not received by May 1, 2014 or you have not made other
arrangements, a $25 late charge will be applied to your dues.
Please also include your latest e-mail address on your forms so we can keep you apprised of all happenings at the
pool.
BSR OPENING DAY is SATURDAY, May 24, 2014!
Membership & Open House: Open House this year will be Saturday, May 17 from 12pm-5pm. Please invite nonmembers to explore the facility and join our Club. Swimming at the Open House will be weather dependent.
For many years, the Club has offered an Introductory Rate for new members. For 2014, the Board has decided to
continue with a discount of $150 off the first year’s maintenance fee. The total amount for a new family to join the
Club is $925, which is the $600 Membership Fee plus $325 ($475 minus $150). Encourage your neighbors and
friends to join our club. This year there will be two incentives to members who refer new or leased memberships to
the pool. First is the award of $50 worth of BSR Barracuda Bucks, which can be used for Club Social Events,
Swim Team or Tennis Team registration fees. Second, members will receive one entry per referred new
membership or leased membership into a drawing for half off the next year's maintenance fee. The more new
referrals that join, the more chances you have to win! This drawing will take place at the annual meeting. There is
no geographic residency restriction to join BSR.
We are always looking for new ways to grow our membership. We will again explore an online deal, such as
Living Social. This was a success when we offered it in 2012. We earned $1200 from those who purchased the
deal and gained three new memberships. We are exploring other mobile local advertising as well.
Leased memberships are now $600 for the season and if the leasing member joins BSR the following year, $100
will be applied toward their first year's dues. The Board hopes this will further encourage our leasing members to
become full members after trying out the facility for a season.

Family Unit Definition: In accordance with our By-Laws, all persons in the Family Unit that holds the
membership must “permanently and continuously reside in the member’s household.” If you have sons and
daughters who are now adults and not living in your home please do not put their names on the enclosed
Membership Information Request Form.
Guest Policy: We will continue to sell guest passes each day without geographical residency restrictions.
However, the Board has set a maximum of 10 visits per season for guests who live in the Bowie-CroftonDavidsonville area. Only members can purchase guest passes. The daily guest pass rates will remain the same this
year, and will be posted on the membership link on our web site. Monthly passes ($60), Seasonal, and Babysitter

Passes ($150) are also the same price as last year and are available for purchase with your membership dues or at
the pool office. Members are responsible for their guests and you must be at least 13 years of age to escort a guest
into the Club.
Pool Management Contract: We are happy to announce that Benchmark Pool Management will be back for the
2014 season.
Pool Hours: The Club’s regular hours will be Monday-Friday noon until 9:00pm and Saturdays and Sundays
11:30am until 9:00pm. Weekday hours when Prince Georges County Schools are in session will be 2pm-8pm.
There will be eight Saturdays that we will remain open until 10pm or 11pm. These will often be for family events
such as float nights or movie nights. From June 13 through August 29, BSR will remain open until 11:00pm on
Friday nights.
Registration Forms and Member’s Handbook: In order to save on mailing costs, we have continued the practice
of not mailing out a Member’s Handbook or Registration forms to every member. However, all of the forms for
Lesson/Team registration are available at the download page of our web site www.bsrbarracudas.com. Blank forms
and the Member’s Handbook (containing all Rules and Regulations) will also be available at Open House and in the
Pool Office during the summer. Forms for Seasonal, Babysitter, and Monthly Guest Passes are also on the web
site. You may include the forms and fees in the same check with your annual dues and mail to BSR (PO Box 499,
Bowie, MD 20718) by May 1, 2014. After May 1, the forms should be mailed directly to the address indicated at
the bottom of the respective form or dropped off at the Pool Office for the responsible Board member (with a check
to BSR if required).
Facilities and Grounds: This year we have several projects lined up for upgrade and repair. They include new
turning handles and shower heads for the men’s and women’s bathrooms; repairing the tile floor and ceiling and
putting up a new light fixture and ceiling fan in the snack bar; spiffing up our facilities with new paint in a few
areas; reworking the Pool Office and several other maintenance jobs such as fixing the lighting by the horseshoe pit
and removing another dead tree. We have already purchased two new grills to replace the ones that were not
functioning properly. This coming year we will have a new management company taking over the snack bar.
Chesapeake Grille & Deli will provide a variety of delicious menu items at reasonable prices to our members and
guests. If any member’s children are interested in interviewing for a summer snack bar job position, please contact
Steve Clark. We will also be renewing our contract with our landscape company Greenway Landscaping.
Greenway has provided great service in the past and will continue to maintain our grounds. As always, please
report any facilities related issues to a board member so that we can be aware of any problems. Please join us for
one or both of our upcoming volunteer days on April 26 and May 3 to help spruce up your Swim Club!
Lunch and beverages will be provided.
Swim Team: We are sad to say goodbye to Tony Miller (2013 Head Coach), but wish him well in his new position
in Colorado, and are now in the search for a new head coach. If you or any one you know is interested, please

coaching vacancies message board at www.princemont.org. The 2014 meet schedule has not been released as of
this mailing, but we anticipate the first dual meet to be Saturday June 14 with the swim season concluding with Allstars on July 26. We will continue to offer swim and diving lessons, and are adding an introduction to scuba diving
class. We will also continue to offer water aerobics throughout the summer. All programs will be offered to
members, as well as the public (as space permits and for an additional fee). Swim program schedules will be
available closer to club opening and will be available on the BSR website as soon as finalized. If you are interested
in being involved in any capacity in the swim program or have questions, feedback or suggestions, please feel free
to contact Lisa Martin (Swim Chair).
Tennis Program: We are excited about the upcoming Tennis season. We plan to continue with our popular
programs and add some new ones. Check the website as the season approaches for more information. Registration
forms for lessons and team tennis will be available at the open house and on the website.

Social Committee: We are looking forward to all of the fun and exciting events we have planned for this year.
Those events are on the enclosed BSR calendar as well the BSR website. As always, we welcome any member
who would like to volunteer their time to any of these events. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact
the Social Chair, Leigh Ann Hess.
Board of Directors: Each year there are openings on the Board and every member should consider serving the
Club. While your volunteer board performing their various duties, often spends many hours, the service to the club
is very gratifying. The board members are exempt from having to pay a maintenance fee, which is consistent with
