THE GEORGE OWL PAPERS - Chris

THE GEORGEOWL PAPERS
GeorgeOwl was one of the few Formula One designerswho drew up plans for
more than one racer. He had tremendousexperiencein the industry and was
associatedwith the design of many iconic aircraft as listed in "About the Author".
In the F1 racing world, his designschallengedWilly Falck's'oRivets"and Ray
Cote's "Shoestring",the dominantplanesof the era, and few other peoplecould
say that.
In 1975the Air Racing community was one organization and an Air Racing
Symposiumwas held at California City airport. The following information on F1
raceplanedesign was preparedby George for presentationat this meeting.
Although aerodynamicperformanceand compositetechnology has progressed
somewhatsince 1975,he coversthe basicsthat every designerneedsto know.
