you do!
Getting back to our graduates, as Mr. Irwin
put its so well in his speech to the graduates, the next time that we ask ourselves
what we would want a Torah Academy student to look like, all we have to do is to refer
back to this year’s graduates. The diversity
that they represent, the academic achievements that they have attained, and, most
importantly, the Torah values and good
character that they exude paint a brilliant
composite picture of all that can be gained
from a Torah Academy of Ottawa education!
Looking ahead to next week, Torah Academy will be very busy. Many classes will be
having end of year celebrations, the SK
graduation will be held on Wednesday
morning, teachers will be meeting after
school and report cards will be processed.
Through all of this, your children will remain
our focus, as we strive to end the school
year in the most positive manner.
As we close out the year, I wish all the best
to the Clinton (an original TAO family) and
Singer families, both of whom will be moving to Toronto over the summer. We also
will be saying a sad farewell to Ms. Kristin
Schmidt (who will be pursuing a master’s
degree next year), Ms. Chana Shaps and
Mrs. Barbara Erlandson. We thank each of
them for the contributions they have made
to our school, wish them well, and encourage them to visit us often.
As a sign off, I wish each and every one of
you and your children a Good Shabbos and
a wonderful and healthful summer vacation!
Dear Parents,
Even after last night’s wonderful Grade 8
Graduation Ceremony, it’s hard to believe
that summer is upon us and that the school
year is coming to an end. While we still
have a week left to school, this will be the
last Shavuaton issue of the year. Therefore,
it is important that I begin it by expressing
my thanks and appreciation to the parents
of Torah Academy, who help make this
school the great place that it is. I often say
that the success of a school such as Torah
Academy, which is a broad-based community school that services the need of a wide
range of families, is in its ensuring that
every one realizes that they must feel
slightly uncomfortable if some one else is
not to feel very uncomfortable. In other
words, if Torah Academy was the perfect
school for you and your family, it probably
wouldn’t be the right school for some other
family. Accordingly, one of the things that I
appreciate is that our parent body is candid
enough with me to make me, too, feel
slightly uncomfortable at times. That way I
am forced to reexamine the way that I administer the school as I continue to work at
fine tuning its operations so that it can function ever more effectively. Thank you for
keeping me on my toes!
The wonderful teaching staff at Torah Academy is also due a special “thank you”. Their
dedication to the growth and wellbeing of
every student is readily apparent and they
spend countless hours in and out of school
preparing for their lessons and working to
see that each and every student achieves
maximum success. As the primary educa- Sincerely yours,

in this forum for the excellent and selfless
manner in which they approach their jobs Yisroel Goldbaum
