Meet Gay Vinson
Helping local families as an attorney and CarePartners
Foundation Board Member
Gay Vinson, an Asheville
trusts and estates attorney, was well
aware of the good ways in which
CarePartners affects the Western
North Carolina community even
before she joined the CarePartners
Foundation Board of Directors. Gay
says when her colleagues Larry Harris
and Amy Beasley approached her
about joining the Board, “There was
no needing to twist my arm, because
I’ve seen in my practice so many ways
that CarePartners has helped my
clients and their families.”
At the beginning of her
service on the Board, Gay had a tour
of the main CarePartners campus.
Gay says she confirmed the positive
impressions she had formed over
the years, of “dedicated staff, highquality hospice and rehab services.”
She also learned about services she
had not been aware of, such as the
Driving Evaluation program offered
by CarePartners Outpatient Services.
“People with aging parents can have
their parents come here and do a
driving assessment, which gives an
expert opinion outside of the family’s
perspective. It helps because that
can be a very difficult dynamic for
the children and the aging parents.”
Gay is navigating care issues for her
own parents in another part of the
state and wishes an organization like
CarePartners existed there.
Gay has lived in Asheville
for over 25 years, and is currently
an attorney at Marshall, Roth &
Gregory. She studied law at
the University of Virginia,
and did her undergraduate
studies at Duke University.
She got involved with trust
and estate law mainly for
practical reasons—she was
raising three young children
and chose a branch of law that
wouldn’t require her to go to
court all the time. What began
as a career choice based on
practicality has turned into a
practice that she describes as
edifying because it allows her
to find out what families need
Gay Vinson, Asheville attorney and CarePartners
and want, and then create the

legal structure to help them
fulfill those needs and desires.

Calling All Golfers!
Golf to support inpatient hospice care on August 21st
When hospice care at home is no longer an option, The John F. Keever, Jr. Solace
Center allows CarePartners Hospice patients to have an improved quality of life in their
final days. As one family member described, “My mother passed away in March and
thanks to the incredible staff at Solace, that experience was one of profound beauty, a
gift beyond what I ever would have imagined.”
To augment the care provided by its dedicated staff and volunteers, the Solace
Center was designed to offer adult and pediatric hospice patients an environment that
is as comfortable and home-like as possible. It offers 27 spacious private rooms, a great
room with a grand piano and fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and dining room for
families, a chapel with handcrafted stained glass and easily accessible natural areas.
We hope you’ll join us for a great day of golf to support CarePartners Hospice’s
Solace Center.

orchestra, harvesting the crops of her tiny garden, and spending time with her family on a glacier lake in
Muskoka, Ontario.
Gay encourages people to donate to CarePartners Foundation to help keep CarePartners services going.
“It’s unusual to have such a broad range of services under one umbrella. As people move through the services,
the more a team is allowed to work together, it benefits everybody, and can be hugely significant to quality of
life.” She is pleased to be a part of the CarePartners Foundation Board of Directors and says it is “wonderful to
be involved with an organization where people like what they’re doing and feel good about how it’s run.”
