FRONT LINE REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE (RPN) The London Regional AIDS Hospice (LRAH) operates the John Gordon Home, a nine unit hospice providing regional services in London, Ontario. The John Gordon Home provides 24 hour on site Transitional, End of Life and Respite care services to male and female adults living with HIV/AIDS and/or HEP C with acute health care needs. JGH services include medication administration, nutrition coordination (meals and access to dietary assessment), housekeeping, social and recreational support, care planning, and building community connections. The population requiring JGH services consistently present a complex range of medical and health challenges, including mental health illness, addictions and substance use, and homelessness. Job Duties: • • • • • • • • • • • Observe, report and record significant changes Implement interventions within limitations of licence and JGH policy Establish priorities and make ethically sound decisions to ensure safe resident care Respond to emergency situations to promote optimal resident outcomes by recognizing changes in health status Document resident data to ensure continuity in provision and coordination of resident care Collaborate with other health care professionals Participate in Continuing Education Administer medication to residents Some cleaning and janitorial duties consistent with an organization providing single coverage in a small environment Some meal preparation and/or assistance consistent with an organization providing single coverage in a small environment Administrative and clerical duties Qualifications: • • • • • • • • Current registration with College of Nurses of Ontario Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure, and perform repetitive tasks Current medication certificate Vulnerable Persons Background Check Current First Aid/CPR certification WHMIS and CPI an asset Experience in mental health and addictions an asset 3-5 years experience preferred Salary: Terms of Employment: Deadline for Application: How to Apply: $20 per hour Part time and Relief Monday, February 3, 2014 (no later than 5pm) Please forward a cover letter and resume to: 596 Pall Mall St, London, ON, N5Y 2Z9 Fax: 519-433-1314 [email protected]
