DEVELOPMENT PLAN Northern Ireland Training Team DATE: 2013 – 2016 N Ireland Strategic Objective: 2.1 To improve the quality and delivery of adult training across N Ireland. And 2.6 To improve the line management structures in N Ireland Scouting. OBJECTIVE ACTION 1 We aim to grow and refresh the NI training team (A) N I Trainers to visit current Training Programme with a view to examining the order of delivery of Modules/ ways of delivery/ reduction in number of days/ build in more skills base into training/review Module Factsheets into essential –v- non-essential. (B) DTMs – undertake training in Modules 28, and 29. (C) Demonstrate an e-learning experience with a view to encouraging Districts to use elearning as one method of delivery Plan for and support the training of the Group Scout Leader – support via central course or localised course or by e-learning. 2 We aim to support the role of the GSL and the DC or CC WHO IS RESPONSIBLE? NIC / AT 3 We aim to support the Leader in “ongoing learning” Plan for and deliver on-going training in Safeguarding and Safety. Baseline survey – data of those leaders with a 5-year Warrant review. To develop the GCA validation process for managers. 5 We aim to promote Woodbadge and GCA training and thereby have an increase in the number of presentations of Woodbadge & GCA Certificates To conduct a Baseline survey of the numbers gaining Woodbadge, GCA certificates; data relating to numbers taking up training from date of appointment; numbers completing training in 1 year, 2 years or 3 years. CCs & DCs NIC/AT NISC office Revised achievement date – March 2015. The following have an impact on Adult Support (Leader Training) 1 gaps in County/District structure – vacancies in Asst. County or Asst. District roles 2 Occasional Helpers – converting the OHs into warranted leaders. There has to be a balance between the number of warranted leaders and the number of Occasional Helpers. Too many OHs and not enough uniformed/warranted leaders. 3 Team Meeting discussion on 29/09/14 – vital that management roles are accurate on COMPASS – particularly where leaders have a multiple roles – are primary and secondary roles shown on COMPASS – eg. County Commissioner and N Ireland Trainer – which is primary and which is secondary?
