Registration forms are to be sent in the
prescribed format duly attested by the Head of the
Institution along with the registration fee in the form of
a DD drawn in favour of “The Principal, Sethu
Institute of Technology” payable at Kariapatti on or
before 15.09.2014.
ELIGIBILITY:
Faculty from AICTE approved Engineering Colleges,
Polytechnics and PG Students with relevant
background. Candidates from industries and R&D
organizations can also participate.
ACCOMMODATION:
Participants have to make their own
arrangements for their stay at Madurai during the
period of workshop. However if required,
accommodation can be arranged in the hostels.

The Institution of Engineers (India) or IEI is
the largest multidisciplinary professional body that
encompasses 15 engineering disciplines and gives
engineers a global platform from which to share
professional interest. IEI has membership strength of
above 0.7 million. Established in 1920, with its HQrs at
8 Gokhale Road, Kolkata 700020. IEI has served the
engineering fraternity for over nine decades. In this
period of time it has been inextricably linked with the
history of modern-day engineering.
In 1935, IEI was incorporated by Royal
Charter and remains the only professional body in India
to be accorded this honour. Today, its quest for
professional excellence has given it a place of pride in
almost every prestigious and relevant organization
across the globe. IEI functions among professional
engineers, academicians and research workers. It
provides a vast array of technical, professional and
supporting services to the Government, Industries,
Academia and the Engineering fraternity, operating
from over 104 Centres located across the country
including Madurai Local Centre. The Institution has
established R&D centres at various locations in the
country and also provides grant-in-aid to its members to
conduct research and development on engineering
subjects.
IEI conducts Section A & B Examinations in
different Engineering disciplines, the successful
completion of which is recognized as equivalent to
Degree in appropriate field of Engineering of
recognized Universities of India by the Ministry of
Human Resources Development, Government of India.
Every year as many as 90000 candidates appear for

Sethu institute of technology is one of the premier
institution in Tamilnadu bloomed in 1995.

College is an ISO 9001-2008 Certified Institution,
Affiliated to Anna University and Approved by
AICTE, New Delhi. Sethu Institute of Technology
currently offers 8 UG and 7 PG programmes. Six of

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
Dept of ICE was established in the year of 1995
inception of the institution and it is accredited by the
National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi. The
Department of occupies a prominent place in the
annuals of its academic history. The department has
been consistently producing illustrious engineers of
caliber who occupy prestigious position in the
academic and industrial field. The Department has
well equipped laboratories which include PLC,
Process Control Equipments, Measurement &
Instrumentation System and a Simulation Lab
equipped with latest software and other infrastructure
with well-qualified and motivated faculty.
A B O U T T H E W O R K S H O P :
Process automation involves the process of
supplementing and manual process with an
automated and controlled alternative. The aim is to
reduce the cost and to increase the consistency in
process industries. PLCs are well adapted to a range
of automation tasks. These are typically industrial
processes in manufacturing where the cost of
developing and maintaining the automation system is
high relative to the total cost of the automation, and
where changes to the system would be expected
during its operational life. The purpose of this
workshop is to give a fairly good exposure in
advances in the field of Industrial Automation and to
disseminate the knowledge about latest development
in the various fields of Instrumentation & Control
engineering. By means of providing the need for
continuous improvement and its control, the
participants will be able to list a variety of
applications, tools, and principles in PLC that can
improve the knowledge in Industrial automation.
