ABOUT PSIT COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING
The PSIT College of Engineering Kanpur was established in 2008. The
institute is affiliated to Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow.
The Institute offers under graduate courses in Civil Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, Computer
Science, and Information Technology. Keeping abreast with modern
developments, PSITCOE are constantly restructuring & renovating its
infrastructure as well as its academic, research & teaching learning
facilities.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING
The department is well set to provide first-rate knowledge in Civil
Engineering, not only a high standard of knowledge but also
administrative, management and software skills are inculcated in the
young students. Academic activities also emphasizes on all-round
development of students.
The department has a highly qualified faculty with excellent academic
record from IITs and other renowned institutes in India. There is a
proportionate mix of academic and industrial experience amongst the
faculty members, which is instrumental in imparting the right blend of
theoretical and practical knowledge to the students.
ABOUT INSTITUTION OF ENGINEERS
The Institution of Engineers (India) or IEI is the largest
multidisciplinary professional body that encompasses 15 engineering
disciplines and gives engineers a global platform from which to share
professional interest. IEI has membership strength of nearly 0.7 million.
Established in 1920, with its headquarters at 8 Gokhale Road, Kolkata
700020, IEI has served the engineering fraternity for over nine decades.
In this period of time it has been inextricably linked with the history of
modern-day-engineering.
INTRODUCTION
India is identified as the fast developing power in infrastructure
development with ongoing mega projects like NHDP, Bharat Nirman,
PMGSY, Metro rail and other construction projects. These projects
require advanced technology and smart materials to achieve the target
with quality and perfection. A clear vision of newer and innovative
ideas is required for continuous social and economic growth of
construction industry. In this context a newer approach to construction
practices and materials appears imminent. Hence in order to create
awareness, share existing practices and develop future prospective a
National Seminar has been proposed. It is expected to deliberate upon
issues concerning both materials and techniques.
SEMINAR OBJECTIVES
To bring academia and industry on a common platform and impart stateof-the-art in recent developments in materials and techniques in building
construction. Bridging the gap between academia and industry for
solutions of infrastructure development.
