Introduc on to Compassionate Focused Therapy following Acquired Brain Injury 2014 EVENTS September TBC - Social Cogni on th October 24 – Execu ve Func on December 5th – Fa gue Management www.ozc.nhs.uk Dr. Fiona Ashworth Wednesday 2nd and Thursday 3rd July 2014 Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) was developed by Professor Paul Gilbert to work with people who are prone to shame and self-criticism and who have difficulties with emotional regulation. CFT is an integrated, multi-modal approach which draws from neuroscience as well as evolutionary, social, developmental and Buddhist psychology. CFT involves psycho-education and exercises which aim to develop a more compassionate approach to oneself, and feelings of warmth, safeness and soothing in one’s relationships with others. The workshop will be of interest to allied health professionals working with people with acquired brain injuries. This may include counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists who are unfamiliar with Compassion Focused approaches as well as clinicians trained in CFT who would like to update or refresh their knowledge and practice. The workshop will provide an introduction to the CFT model and its application in the context of acquired brain injury. In addition to this, the workshop will provide experiential opportunities to practice some of the core CFT exercises. The workshop will be a mix of powerpoint presentations, videos and experiential exercises. By the end of the workshop participants will have: * An understanding of the CFT approach including the evolutionary model and the three types of affect regulation system * An understanding of how this approach can be used with people with acquired brain injuries * Some experience of core CFT exercises The course is designed to be delivered over two days Two Day Course £225 Individual Day on Request £125 To book go to - www.cvent.com/d/t4qs5s Introduction to Compassion Focused Therapy with People with Acquired Brain Injuries Introduction to Compassion Focused Therapy with People with Acquired Brain Injuries DAY ONE* DAY TWO* Application of Compassion Focused Therapy following ABI Welcome and Introduction to the course 09:30 09:30 – 10:15 Assessing self-criticism and shame Experiential exercise: compassionate imagery 09.50-11:10 11:10-11:30 11:30-12:30 Compassion Focused Therapy: Background and Philosophy 10:15-11:00 Application of Compassionate Mind Training in the context of neuro-rehabilitation 11:00-11:20 Tea/Coffee Break Tea/Coffee Break Application of Compassion Focused Therapy Experiential exercise: soothing rhythm breathing 12.30-13:30 LUNCH 13:30-15:15 Compassion Focused Therapy in the Context of ABI: emerging evidence, background and application following ABI 11:20-12:30 Tea/Coffee Break 15:30-16:15 Compassion Focused Therapy following ABI: adaptations and considerations Experiential exercise: building the compassionate self 12.30-13:30 LUNCH 13:30-15:15 Intervention and considerations within the CFT approach following ABI Experiential exercises: compassionate imagery 15:15-15:30 Formulation within the CFT approach following ABI Experiential exercise: building the compassionate self 15:15-15:30 Tea/Coffee Break Experiential exercise: compassionate imagery 16:15-16:30 Feedback and reflections 15:30-16:15 16:30-17:30 (Meeting for those doing research in CFT following ABI) 16:15-16:30 Offerings of self-compassion Taking your practice further Feedback and reflections If you have any queries relating to this course please contact:- If you have any queries relating to this course please contact:- Rachel on 01353 652173 or [email protected] Book Online: www.cvent.com/d/t4qs5s Rachel on 01353 652173 or [email protected] Book Online: www.cvent.com/d/t4qs5s *Please note that this timetable is preliminary and subject to change *Please note that this timetable is preliminary and subject to change
