IMPORTANT SWINE INFO!
As most of you probably know by
now, due to PEDv the Swine WeighIn has been cancelled. However you
do need to turn in several items by
noon on May 30th.
1) Klamath County Bill of Sale
(BOS): The Klamath County BOS has
two pigs on it; please be sure to note any ear notches on
the form (if the animal has notches), the color of the animal listed and any distinguishing marks on the form. If
you have an additional BOS from the seller please turn in
a copy of it also.
2) If your swine came from out of state, we will need a
copy of the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection
(CVI). The CVI provides documentation your swine was
appeared healthy and showed no signs of contagious or
communicable diseases on the date the inspection took
place. And is required for swine coming into the state.
3) A photo of your swine is required. For those of you who
turned in your ID already, you can either email a photo or drop one
off before May 30th.
4) $5 per swine, check or exact cash, please.

1st Annual Klamath Basin Rabbit and Cavy Club Show
On May 10th the KBRCC had their first annual rabbit and cavy show.
They had 18 youth participate in confirmation and youth activity events with
48 rabbits entered in the confirmation breed classes. The kids had a great time
socializing with other county 4-H members.
All youth who participated competed in a learning event which included a
quiz of True and False questions, written test and multiple choice. It also consisted of a breed ID, equipment
ID and color ID class. All who participated received a
blue ribbon in showmanship and blue’s and reds on
their quizzes and ID classes.
All awards were donated. The Grange Co-op donated $10 gift cards for top placing members, hand
made wooden trophies were donated by Yvonne Armstrong for BIS
and RIS, rosettes were purchased by
Ramie Grissom and KBRCC, hand crafted picture frames were made by Becky
Arntz and carrots bags full of candy and
other goodies were passed out to all who
participated. Our youth had a great time
learning in a fun open show environment.
“I could not have asked for a better group
of kids to work with,” said Small-Animal
Superintendent, Brittany Thompson.

It’s Not Too Early to Think About Fair!
Can you believe it’s that time again already? And this
year is bringing lots of change, from new fair dates to new extension employees. We thought it might be helpful to offer some
deadlines and important dates that you can hang on the fridge.
Please keep in mind that as a new agent comes on he or she may
want to tweak dates just ever so slightly, but the below dates will be
really good starting point. And as always we will keep you updated.
July 3: 4-H/FFA Exhibition Entries and Exhibition Agreement
deadline.
July 7-10: Record Book Check
July 10: Photo for Auction Sales Cards. Clubs will be taking their
own photos again this year. Photos are due to the office July
10th. Leaders were sent some parameters to follow to have a successful photo. We will send those out again as the date gets closer.
Or you can always request them from Sophia.
July 15: Last date for clubs to request stall cards from the Extension. This year we will only create stall cards upon request. So if
you’d like stall cards created from ShoWorks, your club must request them from Sophia on or before July 15.
July 21: All Leaders Meeting 6:30 pm
July 22: Clerk Training 5:30 pm
August 7-10: Horse Fair
August 14-17: Klamath County Fair
This year there is a very short turn around for Oregon State Fair—
plus new staff members at KBREC and KCF—so it’s imperative
that we all plan ahead. It will make fair smoother for everyone.
$100 in Scholarships for each of the first 10 Klamath County
Youth to register for Summer Conference!! June 25-28th!
It’s time to register for the 4-H Summer Conference. Registration begins May 1, and this
year’s process is just a little different. So here some important things you need to know:
1) 4-H Summer Conference is open to 4-H youth that are currently in 7th-12th grade.
2) This year registration for the conference and classes is online at http://
oregon.4h.oregonstate.edu/4h-summer-conference .
3) You will need a password from the Extension Office to access the online system. You
will receive that password from the extension office after you turn in your payment for the
conference. Your conference payment must be received before you will be given the
password. Classes are first come first serve, so bring your registration/payment slip in as
soon as possible!
4) As usual a bus will be traveling from Klamath Falls to and back from the conference.
The cost is $50 for the round trip.
5) There will be a chance to play on the climbing wall one evening, so be sure to have
your waiver filled out and turned in. It can be found at our office or at http://
oregon.4h.oregonstate.edu/4h-summer-conference .
6) And last but certainly not least, this year we will offering $100 in scholarships to the first 10 youths to register from Klamath County. Oregon 4-H Foundations will cover $50 and your own Klamath County Leadership Association will match
another $50. That’s half the tuition covered for the FIRST 10 YOUTH to bring in their
registration/payment form!
