4-H Frontline - University of Tennessee Extension

My Next 4-H Meeting:
Note to 4-H Parents
We are happy that you have a 4-H’er in your family! 4-H is a youth organization that provides fun,
educational experiences to many children around the world. In Maury County, all 4th and 5th grade
students are enrolled in 4-H and participate in 4-H clubs that meet during school hours. 4-H also
offers many optional experiences including summer 4-H camps and 4-H Project Groups that meet
afterschool.
We know that behind a successful 4-H’er stands a 4-H parent providing encouragement, support,
and guidance. We hope you will encourage your child to participate in 4-H activities, afterschool
project groups, and 4-H camps. If you are interested in being a 4-H Volunteer or have any other
questions, please email us or call us at 931-375-5301.

4-H Livestock Group
Farm Tour
Thursday, October 9, 2014
As part of the 4-H Livestock Project, we are
having a one-day farm tour. This farm tour
will occur on Thursday, October 9, 2014.
This tour is open to any youth in 4th—12th
grade.
We will make stops at the Center for
Profitable Agriculture in Spring Hill,
Hatcher Dairy in College Grove, a goat farm
in Columbia, and a beef farm in Columbia.
These stops will be informative in nature and
hands-on. You will learn about each
farmers operation and how they manage
their livestock, including disease control,
nutrition, breeds, marketing, etc.
Cost of tour is $8. Money will be collected
the morning of our tour. If you are
interested in receiving information about
this farm tour, please call Maury County
4-H Office at (931) 375-5301 or email
[email protected] as soon as possible. A
letter with more details will be sent to you.
