They are helping all of us to shape up our dance pieces that are the answers to the questions we are asking about dance. At the same time they are teaching us the Sasa and we are hoping we might have a flashmob Sasa by the end of next week. Watch out for it because it should be amazing! Art Gallery Auckland University Dance Students-SPS collaboration Wow! We have just experienced the most incredible event. Our students worked with Auckland University Dance students to create and perform dance pieces that interpreted art works in the Auckland Arty gallery. They performed these pieces on site at the gallery. An amazing opportunity that saw our students perform wonderfully with incredible expertise guiding them all the way. Our students finished with a spine tingling performance of our school Haka as a way of acknowledging this amazing event. There is nothing we cannot do! Community Literacy Report We are sending home a report on how we are achieving in literacy as a school. We would love to get your feedback on this report. Please fill in the form at the back of the report and hand it into the office or give it to your child’s teacher. Together we can do even better! Chaos on Longford Street Many of our parents are now enjoying the peace and tranquillity of picking their children up in Bean, Keate and Rayma Place. Their children are delivered directly to them by staff running the walking bus. Let us know if you would like this amazing opportunity too! Uniform changes Talofa lava one and all. We hope to have all of the new uniform that we are discussing displayed in the office foyer by the end of this week. Make sure you pop by next week to give your feedback on each item of the uniform. Also, we are introducing a suggestion box for parents to let us know what other things you would like to see us doing, or doing better here at Sylvia Park School. Year 3/4-Ripper Rugby SPS vs Bailey Rd School Year 3 and 4 students really enjoyed playing against Bailey Road School this week. They were great competitors and even though we won quite comprehensively Bailey Rd players never gave up. A great team spirit from both schools. We’ll look forward to the next time. Election 2014 Make sure you are enrolled to vote. Each year every single child at school votes for the student leaders for the following year. That’s 100% turnout! The results are always announced at the end of year prizegiving. Make sure you exercise your democratic rights and vote and let’s see if we can get 100% of our parents voting, just like we manage to achieve here at school every year. Important Notice-School Hats From term 4 students will only be allowed to wear the school uniform hat! There are 3 hat options available. Page 2 of 2
