Swiss Contemporary Dance Days 2017 Geneva, 1 - 4 February 2017 Press Release 18 performances, 1 film, 12 venues and a four-day showcase of Switzerland’s vibrant contemporary dance scene: the 2017 edition of the Swiss Contemporary Dance Days will take place from 1 to 4 February 2017 in Geneva. In the run-up to this celebration of contemporary dance, which is held every two years in a different Swiss city, a jury comprising five leading figures from the world of dance has watched more than 140 productions over the last 12 months. The winning 19 entries will be presented at 12 theatres across Geneva, which have joined forces especially for the occasion. In doing so, they, alongside Reso – Dance Network Switzerland, provide a tangible demonstration of their commitment to the art of choreography and dance in Switzerland. The Swiss Contemporary Dance Days, which are also open to the public, are aimed at professionals – journalists, festival directors, programmers – from both Switzerland and abroad. This biennial festival not only offers an insight into the latest developments and activities of the Swiss contemporary dance scene, but also serves as a platform for artists to showcase their work in the best possible conditions and to forge the contacts needed to drive their projects forward and ensure that their creative output reaches both established and new audiences. For the general public, this exceptional festival provides them with the chance to discover Swiss contemporary dance in all its incredible aesthetic diversity: its relationship with the human body, with the visual, with new technologies, with the history of dance and with society, as well as its desire to engage, in a two-way process, with the public, particularly the very young. The 2015 edition in Zurich attracted more than 180 programmers from 30 countries and gave the artists concerned an invaluable opportunity to bring their work to a wider European and international audience.
