Internship Program Description Position • INTERN at McGuireWoods Consulting Romania (MGW) – 3 months Start Date • October 15th, 2014 Summary McGuireWoods Consulting Romania offers interns the opportunity to become directly involved in various policy, communications and business r e l a t e d p r o j e c t s that our team is working on. Our objective is to create a challenging and interesting experience for any intern that joins our firm. The environment at MGW Romania enables an intern to experience a wide range of current issues based on the firm’s complex client portfolio. Any intern would be expected to be able to conduct research projects and draft memoranda with appropriate guidance and supervision. In addition, the intern may be called upon to draft correspondence, track pending legislation, and to otherwise assist our consulting team with their daily duties, including meeting reports, participation at various events etc. A working knowledge of computers, as well as word processing and database management software is necessary. Interns will be mentored by our Consultants. They will help the intern to prioritize tasks and focus on multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Solid writing skills and an interest in the legislation, policy and public affairs are essential. Prior relevant experience with legislative, policy, communications and business projects is preferred. Interns will work 40 hours per week. Prior relevant experience is preferred. Responsibilities • Report vertically to Senior Associate the intern was appointed to; • Support all consulting team members; • Assist with current clients on Public Affairs matters in attending meetings in English/Romanian with Government officials, media and private sector, to attend briefings, to write memorandums, to be pro-active in identifying legislation and policies that are relevant to our clients; • Drafts basic public relations materials including news releases, media alerts, fact sheets, client meeting summaries, status reports and other materials as needed; • Assists with the development and updating of media lists and other databases, including client, marketing, prospect and administrative databases. Other tasks include database creation, data entry and update additions and corrections. The intern will provide data output in the form of letters, fax lists, data lists and other reports as requested by consulting team; • Supports the firm’s efforts with business development research and performing research activities; • Assists with administrative duties including fax processing, sorting, collating, stuffing envelopes, mailings and other administrative functions as needed; • Completes time slips daily, reviews and responds to specific administrative duties and activities as assigned in a timely fashion. Qualifications and Experience • University Degree with focus on policy, law, business or communications; • Excellent English language skills essential, both written and spoken; • Strong computer skills; • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously; • Have the ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines; • Have the ability to react in real time.
