219 CLEAN CATTLE & YOUNG BULLS
Auctioneer : Bernie Hutchinson (07778 164274)
Few less forward after last weeks festive fun and
certainly no less a trade albeit the goods on offer would not
just be the same. Trade remaining extremely brisk especially
for well fleshed and handy weight cattle with plain, light and
older types a little harder to place but certainly no disaster
and demand throughout. My crystal ball would say we will
certainly need cattle next week and if you are in any doubt I
am only a phone call away or my trusty right hand Adele (now
she has recovered from the works swaray!). Top of the tree
heifers to 265p, steers to 228p and bulls to 224p.
103 Bulls - Certainly not the show of last week
with all those superstars it was the turn of Drayton Specials
with Black and Whites out in force and some real corkers to
grace the ring. Commercial sucklers raced away to 224p
(£1,357.44) for a Blue Cross for Mr Peter Bailey, Meiford and
Mr Bernie Parsons, Hinstock sold Limousins to 222p
(£1,238.76), 212p (£1,204.16), Mr Arwyn Jones, Ruthin
Limousin to 219p (£1,182.60), Mr Geoff Holmes, Sutton
Limousin to 215p (£1,044.90), Ed & Dianne Bloor,
Warmingham Limousin to 217p (£1,328.04) and Mr Tim
Brassington, Creamore Blue Cross to 213p (£1,401.54) and
211p (£1,308.20) to mention a few. Native types sold to 205p
(£1,139.80) for Aberdeen Angus from Arwyn Jones and
another distant traveller The Jones Family, Llanwnog sold
Herefords to 196p (£1,078.00). Main talking point would be
the black and white trade selling to 189p twice with Mr Hugh
Roberts, Great Barrow bull to return £948.78 and Ed &
Dianne Bloor, Warmingham bull to gross £1,062.18. The
section average returned at 171.99p (£983.35) and please
remember two thirds of the entry were Drayton Specials.
54 Steers - Good sample of the good, bad and ugly
all represented with super star qualities few and far between.
But at Drayton something for everyone and everyone for
something with demand for the best right down to the rest!
We don’t cherry pick!! Commercial types sold to 228p
(£1,281.36) for a Limousin from Mr Charles Forrester,
Northwood. The Kinsey Family sold Continentals to 221p
(£1,427.66), 214p x 2 (£1,326.80 and £1,284.00), 211p
(£1,299.76) etc. Frank & John Crewe, Blakenhall sold a
Limousin to 216p (£1,166.40) and Mr Tom Busby, Haughton
Limousin to 211p (£1,147.84) to mention a few. Native types
saw Mr Richard Timmis, Wetwood selling Herefords to 196p
(£1,105.44) and close behind Messrs W.B. & S.A. Ackerley,
Oakhanger with Hereford to 195p (£1,154.40). The section
average returned at 190.89p (£1,118.52).
