Herefords once again top of the trade and in tremendous demand. The mixed quality entry met a similar
trade to last week with Continentals meeting a more selective demand. The overage cattle met a satisfactory
level of interest. Vendors please note: We strongly advise non-FABBL vendors to seriously considered
registering with a certification body to take advantage of the premiums available. All non assured cattle
continue to trade at lower rates.

£1226. Many more Herefords are wanted to satisfy this exceptional demand. Continental cross breds met an
unchanged trade with a Blue from AK Apsey & Son to £1076. Angus to 171.5p/kg from R & J Gregory.

Cows continue to be in short supply with demand remaining strong for all meat types to average £683.
However, the importance of farm assurance is becoming ever more evident as buyers struggle to place the
non assured cows.
BEEF COWS (34) Top honours of 145p/kg shared three ways this week by a Charolais from TW Wrixon &
Sons, a Simmental from DAM Marklove and a Limousin from D & R Miller & Son. Blues to 131.5p/kg from
Cutteridge Farm. Angus to 129.5p/kg from D & R Miller & Son, 128.5p/kg from Stretton Partners and
121p/kg from PA King. Herefords to 125.5p/kg from TW Wrixon & Sons, 123.5p/kg from Viscount Lifford and
113.5p/kg from AP & JJ Williams. Other quality meat cows met a good trade and grazing sorts in demand
from 120p/kg. The overfull and poor conformation sorts also sold well for their types and quality.
DAIRY COWS (52) The best Friesian meat cow scarce and a good trade to 126p/kg from AW Frampton
Ltd, £1024 from NF Clothier & Sons Ltd, 121.5p/kg from JJA Sprake & Partners and 118.5p/kg from
Michelmersh Manor Farm. Steakers and manufacturing cows again keenly sought with only the very plain
sorts meeting less interest.

The continuing sunshine certainly producing the feel good factor around the ring today. Demand was strong
throughout for the number of nice types presented for sale. Overall a good day with more needed on a
weekly basis to satisfy demand. CALVED HEIFERS TO £1,980 Well presented heifers from David and
Simon Cheacker topped at £1980. Smart heifers from Tony Leighton at £1810. Very few calved Holsteins
under the £1750 mark. CALVED COWS TO £2,020 Quality 2nd lactation cows produced excellent prices
with Friesian Holsteins from James Churchill peaking at £2020. I/C COWS TO £1,310 Holstein Friesian
cows seeing a very healthy trade and easily to £1310 and £1300 from NB Toop.

from Russell Bros Isle of Wight, 174p/kg from ML & RI Loder and 173p/kg from DR & PS Osborne. Not so
many heavy lambs forward and more would have sold to advantage. The best types to £82 from J & E

A firm trade for all on offer with a large attendance of buyers keen for throughout. Fewer British sired calves
on offer with a lack of best quality in all sections. CONTINENTAL BULLS A good entry of medium calves
met competitive bidding. Super Blondes to £400 twice from ST Poulsom. Simmentals to £350 from R Hael,
£320 from both MJ Trowbridge & Son and WJ Weeks & Son. Limousins also to £350 from SH Harris & Son,
£305 from RGE Durston and £302 from both RHS Cary and JJA Sprake & Partners. Blues selling well to £340
from Leweston Farm LLP. Fleckveihs to £318 from RTJ Voizey & Partners.
CONTINENTAL HEIFERS The best heifers in firm demand and plenty in excess of £240. New faces keen to
buy created a strong trade throughout. Blondes to £315 four times from ST Poulsom. Limousins met keen
interest to £295, £280 and £255 from JJA Sprake & Partners. Blues to £275 from I Bullus and £242 from
Leweston Farm LLP.
BRITISH Not so many native sired calves forward and too few quality calves to satisfy demand. The best
were keenly contested with Angus bulls to £304 from MW & MR Giles and £290 from JM & PJ Evans. Angus
heifers topped at £168 from JP Spratt and £161 from RJ Stitch. Hereford bulls to £263 from JEJ Churchill
with heifers to £185 from GW James. Devon bulls to £192 and heifers to £190 from R Hael.
DAIRY An easier trade for all with the third quality sorts particularly more difficult to place. The very few
medium bulls topped £80. Holstein Friesians to £86 from Michelmersh Manor Farm and £82 from both RA &
ML Gardiner & Son and ACW & SJ Knott. British Friesians to £72 from Brunt Partners. Shorthorn bulls and
heifers to £160 and £150 from C & R Padfield.
