Airbus Americas - Mobile, AL Non-Destructive Testing Technician This position is responsible for conducting examinations and tests of the physical properties of materials and components to find possible corrosion, cracks, flaws and other imperfections, which could affect their performance and reliability by using testing processes that do not damage the structure of the object being tested. Primary Responsibilities: • • • Responsible to reactively or proactively conduct NDT investigations Responsible for compiling clear and actionable test reports especially with regards to part releases and appropriately raising non conformance issues Responsible to develop and explain quality issues within the scope of his/her tests to the customer which might affect the aircraft or cause in-service consequences Conducts various types of testing including: • Ultrasonic Testing: firing high frequency sound pulses into materials and analyzing the differences in the reflected signals • Eddy Current Testing: passing electricity through materials and measuring the differences in the flow of current Prepares part and sets-up equipment for inspection Conducts tests determining if part meets quality specifications or specifying discontinuities Ensures strict adherence to safety regulations Evaluates results according to specifications and standards. Reports on and interprets test results. Complete NDT reports and completes and files records of inspection results Develops and updates NDT working instructions Performs other duties as assigned • • • • • • • • Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: • • • A minimum of 3 years experience in setting up and conducting tests on parts and materials A minimum of 3 years analyzing and reporting on findings that result from standard tests Experience working in a multicultural workplace is highly desirable Education / Special Qualifications: • • An Associates Degree in Aviation, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience Experience utilizing testing equipment including maintenance and calibration of said equipment Starting pay rate is $24.50 - $41.75 per hour, based on skills, experience and education Minimum of 9 months training abroad is required To apply: Qualified candidates should apply online at: www.aidt.edu/jobs Airbus Americas is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, citizenship status, age, disability, political affiliation or belief.
