BOOKSTORE
Bookstore hours for students this fall semester are: Monday,
Wednesday and Friday from 10:15am-11:30am
SUPER SMASH BROS.
The Super Smash Bros. Club will be holding an introductory meeting
at lunch on Friday in Mrs. Carr's room (room 261 in the pod).
SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
There will be a mandatory Science Olympiad meeting on Monday
December 15th at 10-12 lunch in Ms. Moyle's room (room 216). Bring
your lunch! Freshmen students will receive a pass to come
down. Please be ready to share what you're been working on. We
will also be finalizing event assignments. Look forward to seeing you
there!
SNOWMOBILE SAFETY CLASS
Marquette Area Community Schools Snowmobile Safety Class will be
held at Bothwell Middle School on December 15, 16, & 17 from 6:009:00pm. in room 108. You will learn maintenance and safety. You
must attend all three evenings. Please bring paper and pencil. Class is
taught by Sgt. Decker from Marquette County Sheriffs Department.
Ages 12 years thru adult are welcome and classes are free! Please call
Lori Frak to enroll @ 225-4321.
HOLIDAY DANCE
Tickets for this year’s senior sponsored formal holiday dance
“Snowflake Soirée” will go on sale next week (Wednesday, Dec 3rd –
Friday, December 5th) at lunchtime in the Gym Hallway. The dance is
from 8-11pm on Saturday, December 6th and is open to all MSHS
Students and their guests. Tickets are $30.00 per couple or $15.00 for
a single. If you are bringing a non-MSHS student as your guest, you
will need to register their name and age on the guest list when you buy
your tickets.
MSHS Digital Maker’s Club
An informational meeting will be held for students interested in
joining a “MSHS Digital Maker’s Club” on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at
2:30pm in room 120 (Ms. Simmons). We need student leadership and
will be deciding the purpose and structure of the club. If you cannot
attend the meeting, but are interested, please swing by 120 and see Ms.
Simmons before the meeting. Possible activities for the club include
3-D printing, digital design, electronics, programming, coding, and
video game design. If you are interested in technology, you should
join! No prior knowledge is necessary! Hope to see you there!

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT
We have Student Athletic Passes at a great rate! Be sure to stop in the
Spirit Store or the Athletic Office this week to get your ALL SEASON
SPORTS PASSES! The student rate saves you the cost of paying
$5.00 at every game by purchasing one pass that is good for all regular
season games and events this year! Only $45.00!
GUIDANCE
NMU
Jon Teichman from NMU will be here Tuesday, 12/9 at 1:30 to meet with
any seniors who plan on applying or who have applied to NMU and have not
completed their application or who have questions regarding anything
related to attending NMU in the fall. Please sign up in the Guidance Office if
you would like to attend the meeting.
NMU

any students interested in Dual-enrolling at NMU. Please sign up in the
Guidance Office if you would like to attend the meeting.
Tutors Needed:
Students, if you would like to be a tutor to other students as a free
service or for a fee, please sign up in the Guidance Office.
Albion College is offering scholarship opportunities exclusively for
Upper Peninsula students. If selected, the scholarship covers the full
cost of tuition at Albion College. Please see Guidance for more
information on how to apply.
SUMMER COLLEGE EXPERIENCE: Duke University in Durham, North
Carolina, like most colleges, offers summer programs for high school
students. Duke’s competitive application process opens on Dec. 2. For
more information, go to: http://summersession.duke.edu/high-schoolstudents. To find summer college programs at other universities, do a
web search for: summer college high school students, or check
individual college websites.
AP EXAMS
Any student taking an AP Exam this year who will be requesting test
accommodation, such as may be provided through a 504 Plan or IEP, must
see their Guidance Counselor to make these arrangements.
HOBY
HOBY is a three day leadership conference for high school sophomores. The
conference is filled with fun and innovative leadership activities. The
purpose of HOBY is to prepare students to become effective ethical leaders
in their home, school and community. Visit the HOBY site at

guidance counselor ASAP.
SOPHOMORES:
We can nominate one sophomore to attend a 3-day leadership seminar
for in June 2015. The student we nominate should exhibit positive
leadership qualities in school and in the community and/or show
leadership potential. There is no cost to attend, but the student must
have his or her own transportation to the University of Wisconsin–
Whitewater in Whitewater, WI.
The high-energy weekend consists of team-building activities,
motivational speakers, volunteer service, a talent show, panels of key
leaders from various industries, small group discussions, and
more. They encourage leadership development through emphasis on
personal responsibility, volunteerism, increased awareness of social
issues, and open-minded analysis of all sides of an issue when making
decisions.
If you would like to be nominated, contact your MSHS Guidance
Counselor no later than the morning of Dec. 1.
Seniors
Seniors: If you have ever been in foster care, be sure to apply for the
Fostering Futures Scholarship. It provides scholarship funds for tuition, fees,
room/board, books, and supplies/equipment required for enrollment.
