GREAT NEWS ABOUT NOWRAPVEMBER! Hi All, sorry the results for the challenge took a while as we have been hoping more information from the other schools would come in, but sadly we have not heard from the others to add them into the running (which is a great thing for you all!!) So firstly thank you for joining in and helping in the efforts to reduce our effect on our environment through reducing the amount of waste we bring with us in our lunch boxes every day. We hope this has helped start a change in the way families send lunches and that the wrapper free lunches continues on!! We look forward to more challenges next year!! We heard back from one class at Lincoln Primary school, Springston School and Ladbrooks school, so you all get a Bukashi bucket from Selwyn Council for participating. Hopefully this will be helpful with your food scraps to make compost. I will be dropping those off to you next week. We would like to congratulate you all for a great effort. The trophy this year is going to…. LADBROOKS who on average had 2 wrappers per child for the month of November. Great effort. I will try and get the trophy (which our children made last year) to you with your Bukashi Bucket on Wednesday afternoon next week along with your Ice cream which you can decide what and when to have. Well done again all and we look forward to more efforts to care for our environment next year. Have a restful Christmas, you all deserve it!! Kind regards, Jeanne Williams, Head teacher Kidsfirst Kindergartens Lincoln BOARD OF TRUSTEES UPDATE The Mid Term election process has been completed. This week the Board of Trustees will welcome Jason Palmer to the team, Jason, we look forward to working with you. A huge thank-you to Andrew Lepper for his time and commitment to the school, Andrew you have been an important part of the team over the past three years and we have enjoyed working with you. LEARNING IN KIWI During the last 5 weeks Kiwi and Kereru class have been working on Science in a collaborative way. The term began with a variety of Science Experiments and we worked in groups to carry out the experiments. We learnt how to write up scientific reports with a hypothesis and results. After this we were presented with a crime scene and embarked on investigations within Forensic Science. We had a visitor from ESR, Lauren is a forensic scientist, and then the following week we had a visit from Bryan, who is a SOCO, (a Scene of Crime Officer). We learnt a lot from these two visitors. Next we decided on our own investigation about the crime scene. Some of these are as follows: Finger prints, blood splatter analysis, DNA, handwriting analysis, foot prints and crash scene investigation. We all enjoyed our chance to investigate new studies which we usually just watch on TV. We also learnt a lot about working with other people. Some of us would love to be Forensic scientists when we leave school. 9 Barnes Road, RD4, Christchurch 7674 p: 03 329 6885 e: [email protected] www.ladbrooks.school.nz .
