Playing for Movement: Exploring Dalcroze Eurhythmics and Keyboard Improvisation [Monday, July 14 @ 1:00 p.m.] This workshop will be a hands-on
exploration of the most commonly utilized motor movements in the general music classroom: workshop participants will engage in movement exercises, discuss practical

Participants are encouraged to bring their own teaching materials to explore. Dress comfortably.

Middle School Choral Reading Session [Thursday, July 17 @ 9:00 a.m.] See and hear what’s new this year from publishers! We have chosen music for your 2-3 part

Programming a Successful Concert with your 2-3 part Treble Chorus [Thursday, July 17 @ 10:45 a.m.] This workshop is designed to be a fun and informative
sharing session. How do you choose literature of artistic merit, lasting value, at a challenging level appropriate for the ability of the singers, by great composers, from a variety
of genres, from various historical periods and musical styles, in different languages and, last but not least, that appeals to the students and the audience? In this workshop, we
will discuss how we plan our concert programs and read through some of the presenter’s “tried and true” selections for 2-3 part treble chorus. Participants are encouraged
to bring in one or two of their favorite pieces to read through with the group as well. NOTE: If you plan on bringing some of your own music, please bring at least
15 copies.

understood approach for teaching music to students of all ages. Dr. Koster will share classroom-tested aspects of this approach that he has used in the general music
classroom that focus on creating, performing, listening, and analyzing.
Model words and Non-Fiction: Guiding learners to composition and knowledge of instruments [Friday, July 18 @ 9:00 a.m.] This classroom-tested session will
present ways to integrate the model words approach towards an understanding of a subject outside of the general music classroom, Non-Fiction. The second half of the
session will include using composition as a way for children to gain knowledge of musical instruments.
Performance-based Assessment Strategies for the General Music Classroom [Friday, July 18 @ 10:45 a.m.] Music teachers today often feel as though APPR, the
new Common Core and SLO’s have taken creativity out of the classroom. This workshop will explore the ways music teachers can assess students without a pencil and
paper. Strategies to maintain creativity while still meeting the needs of the state will be discussed.
Recorder Session [Friday, July 18 @ 1:00 p.m.] Bring your recorder and learn additional ways to integrate this instrument into your classroom without earplugs. Tenor,
Alto, and Bass Recorders will be also available for you to explore so you can share the entire Recorder family with your students.
World Music Folk Dances that are Classroom Ready [Friday, July 18 @ 2:45 p.m.] Get ready to dance around the world! This workshop will guide participants
