Continuing our Akimel O’odham and Pee Posh Traditions Through our Youth YOUTH COMMUNITY MEMBER ELIGIBLE CONTEST ART CONTEST Essay Contest: In celebrating the 52nd Annual Mul-Chu-Tha Fair and Rodeo, we would like to invite our young tribal members to enter our Art Contest or Essay Contest. These contests are open to all Gila River Indian Community students in grades 4th-12th. Students may only enter one contest, for art or essay writing. First place essay winners will be invited to read their essay during the Mul-Chu-Tha Awards Presentation and first place art winners will be showcasing their art as well. Each Contest will have winners in these grade levels 4th-5th Grades: 1st Prize, 2nd Prize, 3rd Prize 6th-8th Grade: 1st Prize, 2nd Prize, 3rd Prize 9th-12th Grade: 1st Prize, 2nd Prize, 3rd Prize ESSAY CONTEST “As a young Akimel O’odham/Pee Posh member, how can I influence the younger generations to keep the traditions and culture alive?” Art Contest: Creatively illustrate what “Akimel O’odham and Pee Posh Traditions you still carry on?” Art Guidelines: Art entries should be on an 8 ½ X 11 sized paper-pens (colored), pencil (colored), markers (colored), paint entries are allowed. Art entries: Include the writer’s name, parents’ names, mailing address, home phone, school, grade & teachers’ name on back of entry. Essay Guidelines: Essays should be no less than 200 Words for 4th-5th Graders, 300 Words for 6th-8th Graders, 400 Words for 9th-12th Graders. All essays should be typed, 12 point font, and double spaced. Essay entries: Include the writer’s name, parents’ names, mailing address, home phone, school, grade & teachers’ name.
