It#is#hard#to#believe#that#we#just#finished#the#first#
quarter'of'school'and'recently'held'
parent/teacher*conferences.***It*seems*as*if*the*
school&year&is&just&flying&by!&&&The&Ellison&staff&
recognizes*that*it*takes*a*strong*partnership*
between&school&and&home&to&help&children&be&
successful'academically'and'socially.
Here$are$some$ways$you$can$help$promote$your$
child’s(education(and(help(them(have(a(successful(
rest%of%the%school%year:
1. Establish a homework schedule that your child
needs to adhere to. Help them as they need assistance,
but don’t complete the work for them.
2. Limit the time your child spends playing video
games or watching TV.
3. Model and stress good eating habits.
4. Talk with your child every day about school.
Question them about the events of the day and the
work they’re working on in class.
5. Contact the school if you have questions or
concerns about any facet of your child's education.
6. Be involved in school activities, especially the
PTA.
7. Be supportive of your child and his/her
accomplishments.

Flu$Symptoms:$$Fever$over$100$degrees$with$a$cough$or$sore$throat.$$Other$
flu$symptoms$can$include$fatigue,$body$aches,$vomiting$and$diarrhea.$$$
Your%child%should%be%free%from%vomiting%and%diarrhea%for%24%hours%before%
returning(to(school.((
