"Der Imker" erzählt das berührende Schicksal eines Bienenzüchters. Die Wirren des türkischkurdischen Krieges haben ihm alles genommen: seine Frau und Kinder, seine Heimat und mit
seinen über fünfhundert Bienenvölkern auch die Lebensgrundlage. Geblieben ist ihm nur
seine Liebe zu den Bienen und das unerschütterliche Vertrauen in den einzelnen Menschen,
egal welcher Herkunft. Nach einer langen und entbehrungsreichen Odyssee hat der Imker
dank seiner Leidenschaft für die Bienenzucht in der Schweiz zurück zum Leben gefunden.
"Der Imker" ist die Geschichte einer ungewöhnlichen Integration im vermeintlich
konservativen Herzen der Schweiz. Der Film zeichnet ein lebensnahes Bild der heutigen
Schweiz im Spannungsfeld zwischen menschlichen Begegnungen und politischer
Meinungsmache.

The Beekeeper film relates the touching story of a beekeeper. The turmoil of the TurkishKurdish war took away everything that he had: his wife, his children, his country and over
500 bee colonies, his way of making a living. He was left only with his love for bees and his
unshakeable faith in the individual human being, regardless of his background. After a long
odyssey full of deprivation, the beekeeper again found a life for himself in Switzerland,
thanks to his passion for beekeeping.
"The Beekeeper“ is also the unusual story of integration in the seemingly conservative heart
of today’s Switzerland, showing the struggle between human interaction and political
propaganda.
L'apiculteur'

' L'apiculteur' raconte le destin touchant d'un apiculteur. Les troubles de la guerre turcokurde lui ont tout enlevé: Sa femme et ses enfants, son pays et avec plus de 500 colonies
d'abeilles aussi son existence. Il lui reste uniquement son amour pour les abeilles et la
confiance inébranlable en chacun, quelle que soit son origine. Après un long voyage de
grandes privations, grâce à sa passion pour l'apiculture en Suisse il a retrouvé goût à la vie.
'L'apiculteur' est l'histoire d'une intégration exceptionnelle dans le coeur soi-disant
conservateur de la Suisse. Le film peint une image authentique et actuelle de la Suisse entre
rencontres humaines d'une part et opinions politiques d'autre part
L'apicoltore
Synopsis Italiano.
L'apicoltore racconta la toccante storia di un allevatore di api che senza volerlo viene
travolto dal caos del conflitto turco-curdo e perde tutto: la moglie, gli undici figli, la sua
patria e le sue 500 arnie. Una lunga odissea lo porta in Svizzera, dove attraverso la sua
passione per l'apicoltura riscopre il gusto della vita. Ad una prima colonia di api, ne affianca
ben presto una seconda, fino ad arrivare a più di cento popoli in volo sulle Alpi svizzere.

Biography:
Mano Khalil was born in Kurdistan - Syria.
1981-1986 Studied history and law at Damascus University in Syria.
1987-1994 Studied fiction film direction in the former Czechoslovakia.
1990-1995 Worked as independent film director for Czechoslovakian and later for the Slovakian
Television. Since 1996 lives in Switzerland, working as independent film director and producer.
2012 grounded the production film company Frame Film.
