REGULATION AND COMPLIANCE RANGER (2108)
PERMANENT FULL TIME
Purpose of Position
Based in Council’s Berridale Office the Regulation and Compliance Unit (RCU) makes sure that certain government acts
and regulations are being followed out in the community. The people working in the RCU include Environmental
Health Officers, Development Compliance Officers, Liquid Trade Waste Officers, Administrative staff and RCU Cadet.
The RCU Ranger will be required to assist, actively contribute and support the unit in the provision of regulatory
services. The diversity of the role will include indoor and outdoor tasks.
Key Responsibilities
 Ensure service standards are maintained through the competent application of relevant legislation, Council’s
objectives, policies and adopted standards; and
 Investigation and resolution of complaints including but not limited to dog, stock and other animal control,
littering, abandoned articles and vehicles, unauthorised activities, signage, minor pollution matters, control of
burning etc, as required.
Criteria
Essential
 Minimum current NSW Class C Drivers License;
 WHS General Induction for Construction Work in NSW;
 Experience in policing and enforcing legislation;
 Knowledge of the Companion Animals Act;
 Experience in handling a wide variety of domestic, farm & feral animals;
 Ability to effectively observe, deduce and interpret situations and implement conflict resolution principles
quickly and efficiently;
 Well developed written and oral communication skills;
 Ability and desire to undertake further industry training;
 Ability to effectively communicate to the public the relevant rules/regulations pertaining to the functions of
the position;
 Ability to work in a diverse team and help others within the section as required; and
 Willingness to undertake continuous improvement through performance review and direction
Desirable
 Previous experience in relation to enforcement of car parking controls and presenting evidence in a Court of
Law;
 Basic knowledge of the Companion Animals Act 1998;
 Basic knowledge of the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997;
 Basic knowledge of the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979;
 SEINS Training; and
 Asbestos Identification Certification.
Salary Details
Salary will be paid at Councils Salary Grade 6 $25.09 p/h – 38hrs p/w - Work life balance allows a 9 day fortnight
