Identify considerations for a paediatric nursing assessment

Takes an immunisation history

Takes a birth history- (gestation, duration of labour, mode of delivery, birth weight, birth
injury, congenital malformations identified, history of antenatal infections, maternal illness
or problems in pregnancy)
 Identify at least three major anatomical/physiological differences between the anatomy of
a child vs adult in each of:
o Airway
o Breathing
o Circulatory system

Identifies when mandatory reporting should take place eg: belief of reasonable grounds
that child abuse has occurred (refer to PROMPT policy)

