Welcome to Ste. Genevieve Catholic Church
If you are new to the area, we look forward to meeting you personally. Please stop by the Parish Center,
Monday through Friday, or give Father Dennis a call at 883-2731. Also, we ask you to please notify us if
you are moving from the parish or if you have a change of address or phone number within the parish.
If you have not been active in the practice of the Catholic faith, we encourage you to return. If you
would like to speak with someone on the parish staff, please do not hesitate to contact any one of us.
If a previous marriage or your marriage not being blessed in the Catholic Church has kept you from
receiving the Sacraments, we invite you to contact Father Dennis or Father Greg. In many cases, we can
work with you toward the favorable solution so that you can again receive the Sacraments in the Catholic
Church.
If you cannot come to Church because of illness, please be sure that we are notified so that we might
minister to you either at home, hospital or nursing care facility.

Stewardship Awareness
Sts. Peter and Paul “I have fought the good fight, I
have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
(2 Timothy 4:7)
Stewardship is not an easy life style. No one promised that it would be. It is counter-cultural to most things
in the world today. However, putting God first in all
things, living a life of gratitude and being generous with
our time, talent and treasure brings tremendous joy to
those who are disciplined. Fight the good fight and
keep the faith!

How dear your soul is to me!”

Update on Church from Fr. Dennis
This summer we are replacing the heating system in
the Church. We are able to do this through the Preservation Trust Fund for the Church. The old boiler has
been removed and the new system is being installed. I
am very thankful to all those who have given to this
fund so we are able to complete this task in the coming
months. Also, the statues for the Christmas Crib in
Church are being redone. In the past different families
have helped to cover the cost of a statue in memory of
a loved one. If you are interested in doing that, please
contact Deann at the Parish Center. It was discovered
about 2 weeks ago that the blower closest to the handicap doorway was leaking under the tile. So we are
drying the wood out in the floor, fixing the leak in the
blower and then fixing the floor area.

SAINTS PETER AND PAUL, APOSTLES (A)
Acts 12:1-11 / 2 Tm 4:6-8, 17-18 / Mt 16:13-19
What was it like in the years after the crucifixion?
What was it like to talk about an experience and a relationship unlike anything ever
encountered?
What was it like to go to jail for preaching
what you described as Good News even
though it seemed foolish to many of the
people who were listening?
Paul saw it in terms of a race whose finish
line was heaven and for which he was willing to spend his last ounce of energy.
Peter saw that once he acknowledged who
Jesus was, he had no choice but to proclaim
the truth of his heart. He knew Jesus was
the Messiah because he saw it in the look of
those who were healed, fed, and restored at
Christ’s hand. He experienced it in the love
Christ gave him even after he denied him.
He saw it in the faces of those he healed in
Christ’s name and who eagerly came to baptism and the outpouring of the Spirit.
What is it like now? How do we know Jesus
is the Messiah in our hearts? And how has
that made a difference in our lives? Is this
relationship so unlike any other that we are
willing to be poured out, to spend our energy, to proclaim the Good News even though
it may seem foolish?
That’s an uncomfortable question for many
Catholics. For many of us, religion and faith
are private matters, and sometimes that
helps us avoid arguments or endless debate.
But the compelling story of our redemption
begs to be told, if not in words, than in lives
transformed. This is our story and our race
to be run – full out to the very last.
