First graders performed their first science experiment in which they made sensory observations involving popcorn. All five senses were used in this experiment. Students observed the change in the popcorn as it was being popped and discussed the smells, sights and sounds they encountered. Each child was then given some popcorn in which they had to further inquire using their senses of touch and taste. The classes wrote three words to describe each sense they experienced during their experiment. What a “popping” good time they had!
