An IB World School...
Symbols & Landmarks
Second graders attended a field trip
to downtown Hot Springs where they
had the opportunity to learn about and
visit many of the local historic landmarks. This trip was a reinforcement
of their unit of inquiry on “Symbols

We have been posting
lots of great things!
First graders performed their first science experiment in which they made
sensory observations involving popcorn. All five senses were used in this
experiment.
Students observed the
change in the popcorn as it was being
popped and discussed the smells,
sights and sounds they encountered.
Each child was then given some popcorn in which they had to further inquire
using their senses of touch and taste.
The classes wrote three words to describe each sense they experienced
during their experiment.
What a
“popping” good time they had!

Collin Mason shares his
Family Coat of Arms
project with his classmates in Mrs. Trejo’s
class. Students created a
coat of arms with symbols representing their
family as part of their
current unit of inquiry.
