STELLENAUSSCHREIBUNG KENNZIFFER 21/2016 The Willy Brandt School of Public Policy at the University of Erfurt offers a multidisciplinary Master of Public Policy (MPP) built on the methodologies of the applied social sciences, a strong intercultural focus, and a practice-oriented approach. To further develop the MPP teaching and research program, the University of Erfurt seeks to appoint the following professorship at the earliest opportunity, which is initially limited to a period of five years, „Gerhard Haniel Professor for Public Policy and International Development” (Pay grade W2 (ThürBesG) with career track option W3) Area of responsibility The position is supported by the Haniel Foundation, a long-term strategic partner of the Brandt School and intended to strengthen the Brandt School´s profile by developing an innovative research and teaching agenda with a focus on the sociology, politics, empirics and/or political economy of economic development preferably in context of public policy and policy analysis. Candidates with relevant social sciences, economics and humanities backgrounds should have knowledge and interest in micro and macro development economics, development theories and strategies, evaluation of development policies, and domestic and international diversity in context of development. Research expertise could have a focus on the relation of international development and • • • • • • inequality and poverty; migration; human rights; education; development economics; or foreign aid. Requirements Candidates must demonstrate that they meet the general employment regulations and the pre-requisites outlined in § 77 of the “Thüringer Hochschulgesetz”. An essential requirement for a successful application is a completed PhD or doctorate, an excellent record in research and teaching in relation to the subject areas mentioned above, experience in external grant application, and an international and practice-oriented outlook. This record can be based on a Habilitation or equivalent academic credentials. The professorship requires teaching in the MPP program, including mentoring and supervision, to contribute to the Studium Fundamentale (BA) and the study program of the Staatswissenschaftliche Fakultät of the University. All of the Brandt School courses are taught in English and we welcome applicants from all over the globe. Comments/Remarks In line with the career track program of the University of Erfurt, the professorship will be transferred into a permanent W3-professorship after the fixed period of five years and a successful tenure evaluation.
