Fachhochschule Potsdam University of Applied Sciences Faculties: Social Work, Architecture & Urban Design, Civil Engineering, Design, Information Science For the courses of Conservation and Restoration (BA/MA) in the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Design of the Potsdam University of Applied Science, the position of Professor of "Conservation and Restoration – Stone" (W2) Reference 03/2015 is available to be filled as of 1 October 2015. The holder of the professorship should represent the "Stone Module" as a fundamental element of the Conservation and Restoration courses (BA/MA), which ties in strongly with the preservation of heritage buildings, in teaching, practice and research. The focus of the module lies in the conservation and restoration of natural stone objects both inside and out, but also includes the materials of terracotta, tiles and artificial stone. The other key roles of the professorship involve teaching, not only the scientifically sound communication of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, but also organisational and subjectrelated support for student project work and support for bachelor's and master's theses and doctoral dissertations. The holder of the professorship is responsible not only for the organisational and content-related supervision of the stone module but also for the associated workshops and their continued expansion. The maintenance of national and international contacts, preparation and implementation of applied research and education projects, preparation of third-party funding applications and involvement in the university administration system are also part of the role. The successful candidate will have many years of outstanding professional experience in conservation and restoration and scientific investigation of the four materials cited, plus pedagogic skills and teaching experience. Furthermore, the requirements also include participation in interdisciplinary, cross-departmental courses that are oriented towards the didactic principle of research-based learning and the delivery of English-language and online-supported courses. The professorship is initially for a period of five years on a salaried basis. The terms and conditions of appointment can be found in Article 41 of the Brandenburg University Act. It may be possible to offer the post holder a limited or unlimited extension to his or her position subject to the availability of budgetary means, a positive evaluation and continuing incorporation in the development plans of the University without the post being re-advertised. If the position becomes permanent, it could switch to a civil servant role (Beamter).
