日本食も大好きです！！
Hello, I am Emily Renfro, the new CIR for Yamagata City.
I was born and raised in Florence Oregon and lived there for 19 years. Then I moved
98km East to Eugene, Oregon for about 1 and half years My father and mother still
live in Florence as well as one of my brothers and his family. The older of my 2 brothers
lives in Salem, Oregon (206 km North East of Florence) with his family. I also have a
cat named Jaiden who is staying at my parents’ house while I am in Japan.

オレゴン州のフローレンスで 19 歳まで住んでいました。それから東へ約 98 キロ行ったと
ころにあるユージーンで 1 年半過ごしました。フローレンスには両親と次兄とその家族が
住んでいます。
長兄はフローレンスから北東へ 206 キロのセーラムに家族と住んでいます。
ジェイデンという名の猫も飼っていますが、日本にいる間は両親宅に預けています。
I’m very fortunate to be able to live in Yamagata. Living abroad as always been a
dream of mine and now I am able to live that dream! My favorite thing about
Yamagata is the people. The people in the community are wonderful! I have many new
friends and I hope I will continue to make more. I am very thankful that everyone is so
kind and patient with me as I get settled into life here. I don’t speak Japanese yet but I
am taking classes and studying at home. Hopefully by the time I leave Japan I will be
able to communicate I Japanese!
I really enjoy teaching English, which is more than
I thought I would. I feel fortunate that I can teach both adults and children because
both are rewarding in different ways.
山県市に来ることができて本当に幸運でした。私の長年の夢は外国に住むことでしたから、
まさに今その夢の中で暮らしています。山県市で好きなところは人々です。地域の皆さん
は本当によくしてくれます。すでに多くの友達ができましたが、これからもっと増やして
いきたいです。私がここで落ち着けるように皆さんとても親切にしてくれました。日本語
はレッスンを受けていて、家でも勉強していますがまだうまく話せません。日本を去るま
でには日本語で会話ができるといいと思っています。英語を教えるのは思っていた以上に
楽しいことです。それぞれに違った楽しみがあるので、大人と子供の両方に教えることが
できて幸せに思っています。
