Invitation to Seminar Talk Transporters as clinical targets of drugs: amphetamines, new psychoactive substances and the monoamine transporter cycle Harald Sitte Institute of Pharmacology, Medical University of Vienna Host: Gaia Novarino Monoaminergic neurotransmission is terminated by reuptake of extracellular dopamine (DA) or serotonin (5-HT) by the respective high-affinity transporters (DAT, SERT). These transporters are major molecular targets for psychostimulants such as cocaine and amphetamines. However, more recently, another low-affinity transporter has come into the focus: the organic cation transporter 3 (OCT3). It is an unsuspected player in the action of amphetamines. The presentation will focus on the recent developments and discuss the regulation of transporters and the role of OCT3 in amphetamine effects. . Thursday, March 3, 11:00 am Seminar Room, Lab Building East, Ground floor This invitation is valid as a ticket for the IST Shuttle from and to Heiligenstadt Station.
