*2014 年 7 月 4 日、JET 帰国者感謝状授与式を県庁にて行いまし
た。今回の「宮崎国際交流レポート」は、この式典において帰国
者代表あいさつを行ったサシャ・クリンガ－さんのあいさつ文を
掲載します。

*On July 4th, 2014, a ceremony was held for returning JET
Programme participants. This month’s issue of Miyazaki
International Exchange Report features the representative
speech given by Mr. Sascha Klinger.
(JET Programme: conducted by local authorities and other
organizations, the Programme aims to improve foreign language
education in Japan and promote internationalization at the grassroots level by inviting college graduates
from foreign countries to local government offices as well as public and private schools)
河野知事、お集まりの皆さん、本日はわたくしにご挨拶させていただく機会を設けていただきましてま
ことにありがとうございます。私はドイツのドレスデン出身で、この 5 年間宮崎市役所の国際交流員と
して勤めておりましたクリンガー・サシャと申します。任期を終える語学指導等を行う外国青年招致事
業の参加者の代表者としてご挨拶をさせていただけることを大変光栄に思います。
Governor Kouno and my fellow JETs, thank you for giving me the chance to speak here today. My name is
Sascha Klinger. I am from Germany, and I have served Miyazaki City as a Coordinator for International
Relations for the last five years. I am incredibly honored to give a speech on behalf of this year’s leaving
JETs.
我々は様々な目的や夢を持って日本に来ました。宮崎はどういった場所なのかが、想像もつきませんで
した。私自身も大阪や東京のような都会しか知らず、フェニックス沿いの道や紺青の海がある宮崎にや
ってきて、「ここは日本じゃない！ここは南国のパラダイスだ！」と大喜びをしました。
We all had different reasons for joining the JET program and different visions of what we would find in
Japan. Many of us had no idea what to expect from Miyazaki. As for me, I only knew places like Osaka and
Tokyo, so when I arrived in Miyazaki with its palm-tree-lined streets, magical islands, deep blue sky and
ocean, I instantly felt that this is not Japan. This is even better.
日本、宮崎の国際化に我々が貢献した分は小さいですが、外交的緊張が高まる最中にオリンピックに向
かっている日本にとって、今こそ国際化が平和や経済発展に不可欠な要素だと信じています。
During our stay, we have made great contribution to internationalizing Japan and Miyazaki; and from the
bottom of my heart, I am convinced that internationalization must be considered as one of the most
important goals of a country that is heading for the Olympic Games in the midst of rising political tensions
with its neighbors.
もう尐しで我々のＪＥＴプログラムが終了します。たとえ我々が母国に帰っても、心は永遠に宮崎に繋
がっているでしょう。宮崎の大使として努力し、宮崎の愛を多くの人につたえます。
Even though we are here today because we will leave the JET program, we did not come here to say
farewell to Miyazaki. Even if we leave Japan, our heart will always be connected to Miyazaki. Back in our
home countries, we will endeavor to act as ambassadors for Miyazaki and share our love for this beautiful
place with others.
今日は 7 月 4 日で、アメリカでは祖国への愛を表す重要な国立記念日です。ここに居る任期を終えるＪ
ＥＴ参加者の皆さんはアメリカ人の仲間達と心をつなぎ、宮崎への愛国心を感じて欲しいです。
Today is the fourth of July, an important date for Americans to express love for their country. I would like
to ask all leaving JETs here to connect with our American buddies and convert their patriotism into
appreciation for Miyazaki. And because it is the 4th, I would like to say Thank you Miyazaki for four times.
最後に、今日は「４日」ということで、宮崎に４つの感謝を告げたいと思います。
ありがとう、宮崎のみなさん！心が広く、優しいおもてなしはもちろん、我々とまったりとした日向時
間をたくさんシェアーしてくれたことに感謝します！
ありがとう、宮崎の自然！青い海、青い空、優雅なフェニックスの木、緑の山、美味しい空気に感謝し
ます！
ありがとう、宮崎の食べ物！おいしいチキン南蛮にさわやかな日向夏、そして芋焼酎に感謝します！
ありがとう、宮崎のスピリチュアル・パワー！日本の初代天皇が生まれた場所の神秘的なパワーに感謝
します！
Thank you, People of Miyazaki! For being warm and welcoming, relaxed and laid back, and for sharing lots
of Hyuga Time with us!
Thank you, Nature of Miyazaki! For your beautiful blue sea and the sky, your palm-fringed streets and
lush mountains, your fresh air.
Thank you, Food of Miyazaki! For delicious chicken namban, refreshing hyuganatsu, your delightful
shochu.
Thank you, Spirit of Miyazaki! For sharing the spiritual power of the place where the first Japanese
emperor was born, where the legends began.
本日は、お忙しい中、本当にありがとうございました。
Once again, in the midst of your very busy schedules, thank you for taking the time to be here today.
Governor Kouno and all citizens of Miyazaki, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything!
