PTA Christmas Celebration Preparation
The PTA will be facilitating cookie baking and packaging sessions. Thank you for signing up to
help. We will hold two Christmas Carol practices in the Hall on the days below. If parents can
attend on of the practices, we welcome you to attend to help lead other parents at the Christmas
Celebration event. Even if you can not attend practice, you may still sing with us!

PTAクリスマス会の準備
PTAのクッキーベイクやパッケージングを予定しています。すでにボランティアのお願いとスケジュール表が配
られていると思います。クリスマスキャロルの練習も以上の予定でホールにて行います。練習の参加は１回でも
良いので、可能な方は是非来て下さい。練習の参加が無理な方はクリスマス会でご一緒に歌って下さい。
Influenza Caution
According to news reports, type A/Hong Kong influenza virus has been spreading in the Kanto
region. We are entering the common cold and flu season, but the spreading is occurring earlier
than past years. Small children and the elderly should especially take caution by getting enough
rest, getting flu vaccinations, washing hands well and wearing masks.
インフルエンザ注意
ニュースによると、関東地方では例年より早くインフルエンザが流行しており、検出されたウイルスのほとんど
が「Ａ香港型」とのこと。特に小さいお子様や高齢者は必要な休養、予防接種、手洗い、マスクの着用などを行
い、事前に感染を防ぎましょう。

Joyful Christmas
Since 1983, Suntory Corporation has been sponsoring an event gathering 10,000 people and an orchestra to sing
and perform Beethoven’s 9th Symphony. This is my fourth consecutive year to participate as a choir member in this
32-year-old event.
One must meet certain requirements to participate; clearing a selection process, attending a set number of
practices and memorizing one’s part in German is necessary over the course of 6 months. The hard work
instantaneously turns to joy the moment 10,000 people complete singing and playing the “Ode to Joy”. It
celebrates the unity of all mankind under God, so it is a popular musical presentation during the Christmas season.
Christmas is a joyful time to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Jesus not only told people the right thing to do, but to stop
doing wrong. This is not always easy. However, true peace and joy comes when a person realizes and admits that
his own selfish way of thinking and acting is ruining his life, and he accepts God’s son Jesus as his savior. Then, he
is released from the bondage of sin, or wrongdoing. Apologizing, welcoming Jesus into your heart, and following his
way brings joy along with a “new” life! Christmas then really becomes a season of joy. Accepting God’s greatest gift,
Jesus, will bring a truly JOYFUL Christmas into your heart!
I look forward to seeing you at our Christmas Celebration, where the kindergarten children will present the
Christmas Story entitled, “I’ve Got the Joy”.
May you experience true Joy this Christmas.

P.S. This year’s performance of the 10,000-person choir will take place on Dec. 7 at Osaka Castle Hall and is
scheduled to air on television (MBS), about 3:45 p.m. on Dec. 23.
歓喜のクリスマス
1983年から続いているサントリー主催の「一万人の第９」は今年で３２年目を迎えます。
この企画はオーケストラと一万人を集め、ベートーベンの「歓喜の歌」を一緒に合唱するものですが、私は今年も合唱団の
一員として４年連続の参加をいたします。
参加するためには抽選に当たり、数回にわたり練習に出席、ドイツ語で自分のパートを暗唱するなど、色んな関門が半年程
あり、努力も必要です。しかし、歌い終わった時の感動と喜びは、１万人が「ひとつになった」ことを実感した瞬間に舞い
降りて来ました。神様の下にて人類がひとつになることを祝う曲ですから、クリスマスの時期に世界中で歌われます。
クリスマスは神様がイエスさまをこの世に与えてくださった喜びの日です。イエスさまは正しいことだけを示したのでは無
く、悪いこと（罪）をやめるよう教えました。それは簡単なことではありません。しかし、自らの行動が正しくないと気づ
き、自分勝手な生き方を反省し、神様の御子イエスさまを救い主として心に受け入れた時に本当の喜びと平安を得ることが
できます。それによって罪から解放されるのです。イエスさまを心に受け入れ、正しい道を歩み始め、新しい命を手に入れ
たように感じます。そのような人にとって、クリスマスは歓喜と祝いの時なのです。神様の贈り物、イエスさまを心に受け
入れ、歓喜のクリスマスを体感してはどうでしょうか。
2014年のクリスマス会は“I’ve Got the Joy”というテーマで、キンダーの生徒たちがクリスマスのお話の劇を演じます。
一緒に歓喜のクリスマスを迎えることを楽しみにしています。

追伸：今年の「一万人の第９」の開催は大阪城ホールで１２月７日です。TV放送予定は１２月２３日午後３時４５分頃
(MBS)です。
